My ashtray got stuck...got it fixed by the dealer. If you have warranty try and get them to sort it, I ended up paying about $100 since they found a safety pin stuck in the ashtray.

Push for warranty as mine was the same and they said the same thing about a hairpin but my suspicion is that the hinges break easily. Tell them it happens all the time - I succeeded in getting it replaced under warranty.

i use my ashtray as a coin holder, one of the coins fell behind and caused the ashtray lid to not open.

If I remember correctly, I was able to take the whole centre trim off and turn it upside down to dislodge the coin....once out, the lid opens freely again.

Only took my about 5 mins.

i also use my ashtray as a coin holder. it regularly gets stuck because the coins bounce around during spirited driving and get stuck under the lid preventing the push release mechanism from working.

after stressing out the first time it happened, i found that the simple solution was to drive fast and slam on the brakes. qed.

Very glad I read this - not that I keep anything in there aside from a garage remote - but worth mentioning to my better half...
