A question for Anneka: BMW Performance differential
HI Anneka,
BMWUSA mentions something about a Performance differential (http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...ferential.aspx). The details are really sketchy, so I thought I'd ask a few questions: 1. do you have any idea what this is 2. is it an LSD 3. which models is it available for 4. will it ever be offered in the UK Many thanks, and I have every confidence that you will get to the bottom of this for us. |

Sounds like marketing tosh to me,
No mention of torque biasing or clutches or limited slip etc. Only talks about a increased final drive ratio, i.e. makes all you gears a bit shorter thus increasing wheel torque and acceleration. It'll sure as hell cost a load, buy a Quaife and get a proper diff. |

BMW doesn't have a LSD. If you check the US forums someone in SA fitted the M3 LSD (fits but prop shaft needs shortening). There is also an interview somewhere (some two weeks old) with the US director of BMW Performance (Riehle?) which talks in vague terms BMW thinking about it. That probably means the torque vectoring differential... Question is if that will offer any fun..
