wtf did i do?? my car sounds sick (bad way) help

i really appreciate the help and looking forward to hitting these forums more cordial then time spent on audizine

first of all its on 09 335 x drive afe dci, giac, and uuc/corsa mufflers

ok so the uuc mufflers sounded amazing, unbelievable, extraordinary, etc etc.

of course i wanted it louder, so i cut off the resonator towards the end and just connected the piping(flame on,stupid as hell but i was bored and now am paying the price) and now it sounds like completely and udder SHIT, needless to say i feel like an ass driving around on a beautiful sunday with a bmw that sounds like a honda extremely loud and insanely raspy.

What could of caused this?? is that resonator SO effective at its job or is it the exhaust, i knew it would be louder but this is just WAY WAY to much

sorry no vids or sound, i know it would help. Seeing how Monday is an overnight shipment away from Tuesday how can i fix this ??

----> slow clap for the schmuck(me)

Both muffler and resonator effect the sound of the car. You can buy resonators of different lengths/sizes, its best to have both a resonator and muffler on your car if you want a civilized sounding car.

From my experience, the muffler changes the tone of the exhaust (deep or high pitch). Where as the resonators changed the raspy and drone within the car.

i hope so, i thought the cats were roundish and up closer towards the front and the resonator was at the rear closer to the crushed piping.. it was flatish type piece

i mean if im wrong...o well, lesson learned.. how do i fix?

cats are always round...

secondary cats dont change the sound of the exhaust much.

Depending on how much you want to quiet down the sound, that is the length of the resonator you should get. Larger resonator = less sound

I took off the secondary cat and it crated a lot of crappy rasp at 2K... It sure made a difference to me.

To the OP, I guess you have an E90 as E92s don't have resonators...

yeaa man i've got that rasp threw the whole range however theres almost no drone at all its just the second u touch the throttle its awful

edit: i believe what i'm looking for is the x-pipe. the part that attaches to the mufflers, and do you guys this it if i get an "x-pipe" it would quite it down or would i still need a resonated x-pipe. this is what happens when you dont think things thru..damn. mad confused on why it became THAT loud without the stock resonator

A simple X-pipe does quiet things down, by how much is impossible to say between each individual exhaust setup.

Xpipe will help but the raspyness of the exhaust is because there is no resonators...Get some resonators installed and your problem will be solved...Vibrant resonators (1792)

i'm looking at the super sprint x pipe.. any suggestions for others?

what part of the x pipe quiets things down... do other cat-back systems have resonators on their xpipes? from most of the pics i've seen, it looks like they dont

It's the X-part in the X-pipe that quiet things down because the exhaust gases are allowed to cross.

the 'crap' you are hearing is the exhaust pulse differences between cylinders and banks, when they are equalized by either a crossover pipe or a resonator, the flow is smoother, giving you a "cleaner sound.
