Where to turn in a lease?

Is there a penalty if you lease through BMWFS and return to the vehicle, at lease end, to a different dealer than the original one?

I wouldn't think so but if I understood the situation correctly BMWFS explained that it is up to the original dealership. I dont think this info is correct and wanted to run it by you guys.

it doesnt matter you can return it to any BMW dealer, at least that is what I was told. I was going to another dealer but then at the last minute where my 05 3 series was from gave me a better offer on a coupe so it does not matter. as long as its thru BMWFS

Any dealer in the continental US will accept lease turn ins. Must call first to make a date to ensure they have space to accept. some dealerships are real small. The one I leased through in NJ only holds 3 showroom cars!
