Using Tesco 99ron in my 335i
Am I wasting money as I noticed in the handbook it states 95 ron i.e standard unleaded.
All previous cars with turbos have stated to use 97ron or higher. |

Look inside your fuel filler flap it tells you the range - i'm sure mine says 95-100RON
The manual just tells you the MINIMUM spec you must use. So no you're not wasting your money, the 335i NEEDS 98+ ron. If you look at some Evolve dyno graphs they were showing 40bhp less using 95RON than using 99RON tesco / vmax |

Especially with turbocharging as well as high reving N/A engines the higher RON will enable more boost and more advanced ignition without detonation which means more POWER!

cheers folks I'll stick with the Tesco 99 ron then. Masterplan - I have had a VXR and Impreza previously and both ran rough on 95ron, but it did state in the handbook to run on 97 ron or higher.

But the RON isn't the only story, other additives come in to play too.
Its a bit like saying all 5% lager must have the same effect? When we all know that the 'reassuringly expensive' 5% wife beater has the extra vava voom! |

Then I guess mixing diesel and petrol together should give awesome results.

Is this the same with Diesels? I asked the sales guy when I picked mine up and he said regular diesel was fine and no need for the v-power version that is now at most stations.

Of course there is a need, not quite the same big up as in the petrol tubo but there nonetheless. Try a couple of tankfuls and see.... |

Much smoother and fluid all round. Smoother torque curve, smoother starting and good economy. I wouldn't go back to normal stuff even if you paid me. Try it. A good friend here in th UK has tried Vpower in his old shape 530D for the first time since buying it new, after he had a spin in mine. Got an SMS with a big thumbs up. D.

I've been using Vpower diesel for the past two tanks and although the economy has only slightly improved (negligible) the engine appears to run smoother. Don't know if its all in my head and its a placebo effect but the thing feels a bit more 'urgent' than it used to.
Is it worth the extra ten pence a litre.....not sure yet. |

Hi
I noticed a difference the first time I started the car after filling up with BP Ultimate; quieter, smoother, faster, less diesel rattle. MPG seems to have improved as well. Drove on a 50 mile motorway trip the other day and got 53.3 MPG (driving like a Vicar). Even at fairly rapid speeds (for me) I can get c50 MPG - and it's an auto. Jeff |

Some one please confirm if Tesco new momentum is good enough to run in a juiced 335i. I have used it running the JB+ at 100% and I can tell it wasnt running to hot. Plus ma mpg went down by 2mpg against shell V power.
Anyone else agree disagree with this, obviously this car needs the highest pump Octane level it can get to produce the goods. Tesco is cheaper but is it as good??? Thoughts
