Is it okay to remove the fog light panel on e92's ?

I don't use my fog lights because it looks ugly with the panel dispersing the light making it big and showing square-like shape. I want the fog lights to look round and this can be done by removing the panel in front of the fog lights.. I was just wondering if removing the panel causes any problems? Tried searching but no luck.
