Well I'm an idiot. I washed my car and apparently one of the microfiber rags I used had picked up a small rock or something before I dried my hood with it. HELP! It doesn't look like it went into the paint, it appears to be just the clear coat..... I took the best pics I could but I don't have the best camera. I have some Zano cleaning products and I tried using the detailing spray and just kind of attempting to buff it out by hand and it didn't help one bit. Someone has to know of a product and/or way to remove this.... Please help!

This is one instance where "that will buff right out" actually is appropriate. If you can't hide them by hand with Z5 or something, then get your car buffed at some point with a light polish. Those are very minor scratches and they will disappear.

I agree with the scratch-X.. I use it all of the time right around the door handles where the PC can't reach (get some scratches from the wedding ring if I'm not careful opening the door). I use a sponge applicator that's designed for "hand polishing" like you are doing. It works great everytime. Just remember that you will be taking any zanio you have on the car off with the scratch-x, so you will need to re-apply in the areas you polish out.

Ahh...don't worry, justbechillin....
Today I just made a silver dollar size swirl scratches on my 4 day old Jet Black 2007 328i. I, like a complete dumb ass, tried to remove a fingerprint to the tip of the hood on the left side with the fabric of my long sleeve shirt and learned the hard way that NOTHING BUT FRIKKIN MICROFIBER TOUCHES THE BIMMER!!!! I buffed it out with Meguiars professional liquid wax and a brand new microfiber towel and it is about 70% gone now...but you can still see it a little. I will be investing in Scratch X for the rest of the damage. I look on the bright side....at least I didnt wash the car first then use a clean old towel to wipe it dry like I do for my wife's 2005 Dodge Stratus SXT. it works great for her car....just not Jet Black BMW's!!!!!!!! ![]() |

Hey thanks ahnh77,
I'll stop by the AAFES autozone on post and see what they have there. Worst case, I'll get my uncle in Lauderdale, FL to send me some of the 3M glaze swirl. Wow...this BMW is more than a hobby...it's a FRIKKIN OBSESSION!!!
