Sirius Radio Alternatives

Maybe some of you are in the same boat as me. I've got sat prep in my 335 and I'm looking to get Sirius installed on my vehicle for the sole purpose of listening to Howard Stern. I don't want to pay to put the Sirius in just for another 7 months of the show (assuming his contract is not renewed).

Im considering getting the stiletto and just running it through my AUX, is anyone doing this already? How is the quality?

The stiletto is $300 here in Canada but I can order Sirius parts from Tischer for just under $600 (the dealerships here will charge ~$1100 for parts and labor).

Anyone have any advice?

I have an external module mounted and hard wired, ran through the aux port and wired into the antenna in the shark fin. Works fine. ~$70 for the radio, $20 for the cable and $30 for the cradle. I dont know why you would spend $300 on a receiver.

Not much to post pictures of. I'm running a unit similar to the Sportster 5. Its mounted on the right side of the HVAC controls facing me. Mini cable ran to the center console. Antenna wire ran to the trunk. Hardwired in for power.

I like the full color unit and I like having the ability to save songs.

Thanks for the help, I'm probably going to bite the bullet and install the OEM unit

I purchased the OEM unit because I wanted the ability to control the radio from the steering wheel buttons. If that isn't worth $500 to you ($400 for the unit, $110 to install), then go with a unit you can purchase for $50-75 and run over the AUX port.

Good luck!

I just had the Sirius upgrade installed in mine and activated. It is worth it. It took the dealer 1 1/2 days to install the antenna and download the software activation. Worth it. Works great.
