Brakes squeaking?
so i just got cool carbon pads installed w/ new centric rotors and they're squeeking when i brake around 30mph or less...usually at lights and pulling into my garage...
is this is normal for "breaking in" no pun intended...or is an installation issue? i went to a reputable shop here in town so i would like to think it's just a breaking in thing... please help?

Did they put any kind of anti-squeal paste on areas where the pads touch the calipers and carriers? I used Noise Free when I finished installing my CC pads this weekend, haven't had any squeal at all. In fact, I did have some squeaking before, but haven't had any squeaking since as I think the dealership probably didn't use any anti-squeal when my pads were replaced last time.

Most mechanics who are not used to tuning or to put anything beside OEM (like I was) will skip this part. Just go back and ask to have Noise Free or CRC applied to the back of the pads. Then, they should wait a while to let it sit before assembly. Usually, I would wait about an hour, but not always possible in brake shops ... As I read it in another post, it's not the pad against the rotor that create this sound, rather the vibration of the pad against the caliper. And the wheel serves as an amplifier... ![]()
