So you think the extra 30 bhp will be best.

Mine is running 207. You can easilly get 220+ but I'd expect that would seriously diminish the life of the turbo.

Around the 200 mark is ideal.

It makes a MASSIVE difference. Ask anyone who's driven with me. The 320d around twisty roads will not be lost by any but the most insane driver. I was usually third car up after the dxb and baris' m3 during our go-karting meet last year. At speed and on the straights they will obviously leave me for dust but around the twisties its a great little car as all that low down torque is brilliant.

I've not regretted getting the car mapped for a second

Obviously I wish I had the 335.. but the mapped 320 is enough to put a smile on my face an raise some pulses.

+1, I agree with Dave. His lunacy keeps him within sighting distance of much quicker cars.

The 320d with a map is a quick car. Keep up with Type-R' on the roll easy.

Hi

Just a quick thought - do you declare the re-map when you sell the car? Is it likely to put off potential buyers? Would it lose value more quickly with a re-map?

Generally speaking it does put people off unfortunately, especially when the next owner will go and re-map it anyhow!

Wont really lose money because of it. Just will put of potential numpties who have it in its head its been abused.

If you are worried you could get it put back to standard.

Had my 330D mapped by Evolve today and had a good 80mph+ drive home.

As drivable as stock but with bags more torque. Very impressive for overtaking on the motorway now.

I wouldn't. Personally. IF someone comes to view and is obviously a petrol head, then I can use it as a bargaining chip to get a slightly better sale out of it. Otherwise, if its a random blue collar / shiny suit type: I'd not mention it.

What company is it that can get an extra 60bhp out of a 163bhp engine, I thought around 40bhp more was the max for this engine. If 60bhp can be done safely that would be the one to go for.

What are the torque gains for the 60bhp and 30bhp maps?

+1 here too. I had mine done last week. Definitely tell your insurance for peace of mind.

You should also note that the guys at evolve will only support the original purchaser of the remap. If the next owner of the car has a problem they might charge for remaping a wiped map etc

I have a 55 plate e91 320d SE with 163bhp. DMS remapped it to 209bhp in Dec 08. HUGE improvement in mid-range torque. A much better car to drive. 25k miles since remap and no reliability issues..well DTC light came on and I needed a new hydralic pump..which BMW paid for even though car out of warranty (I paid labour). I think it would have went anyway as this is a common fault.

Car accelerates much more smoothly. Very impressive in 3rd gear. Very refined.

Go for it. You will enjoy the car more. 325d performance 318d fuel economy.

Map undetectable by BMW. Can be removed when you want to sell car.
