Smokey Goodness

06 330i: PBX, Golf tee mod, stock other than that.

Figured i'd make a new thread about it since it's buried in the other one also.

[u2b]<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/aLA2nmQ4BjU&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/aLA2nmQ4BjU&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>[/u2b]

And a direct link also.

This was taken to prove to people of the upgraded throttle responsiveness and the gain in torque/hp while using the BMS PBX.

Oh and i'm not very good at these burnouts so i'm gonna buy a set of worn out tires and practice so I can make a real good vid.

camera guy is struggling. Nice job though. If only the N52 had more low end torque or N54 didn't have reliability problems.

yea my roomate is what you would call an "amateur videographer"

I think one of the reasons why I can't get smoke from the start is my car is an automatic, so i have no way to "dump the clutch" so to speak, and the f&r brakes on these cars are just god damned massive. so they really really prohibit wheel spin till you let off of em.

Well first, search.

Secondly. The mod crimps a vacuum line running to the right most exhaust tip. This tip has a vacuum operated butterfly valve that regulates noise levels around 2.5-4.5k rpms.

With the valve open all the time you will see about a 10-15% increase in sound, and a rather loud cold start.

I did a search and by reading MOST of the posts, the golf tee was only for the 335's. It has been confirmed! 330's also! I'll try this before the BMW Performance exhaust.

Exhaust is a waste of money as far as performance goes for the N52. It's basically sound only. That's why I'm so opposed to the BMW performance exhaust.

The most performance you could get out of anything related to the exhaust would probably be a straight up OEM muffler delete...That thing weighs damn near 50lbs, and sirs, that translates to about 4-5bhp loss.

Definitely try it out, it takes less than a minute and is totally reversible. After reading through all of those threads, I found the most suitable way to perform the mod to be just taking the slack in the vacuum line, and crimping it with a zip tie. You're not removed anything, no connectors are dangling free in your trunk storing codes, and there's no BB to ever fish out of that line if you want to reverse it.
