Help diagnosing HID kit

I have a halogen to xenon conversion on my car using an aftermarket hid kit (the e90 andy kit). everything has worked fine since installed, a few months ago, i removed the lights to install a new drl bulb. Recently, my drivers side xenon has been shutting off everytime i hit a bump...which is constant in ny. i figured out that if i switch my lights from automatic, to only drls, and then back to automatic, the light will come back on. Is this happening because of a bad ballast or is it likely a loose connection? I would like to assume it is because of a loose connection, but that doesnt explain why the light will come back on right after i flip the switch...
