My LCI E92 330d!

There is a god, Thanks to Scothall I have a decent loan car this week whilst they take my 335i to bits.

So, with just over 100 miles on the clock, here is my mini review.

1 - The engine - fantastic, quieter and torquier than my old 330d.
2 - Steering - a bit lighter than the 335i, but good in a different way
3 - Ride - its an SE on 18" wheels, rides much better than mine, but a tad more road noise. On a bumpy b road it would be quicker.
4 - Bright white halos - nice
5 - Who ever specced it with Sat Nav, Leather, Auto, HFS etc missed off Bluetooth! A big error. Doesnt look like £40k either
6 - The engine...

If/when they fix mine I'll let you know

BT + telematics is a £500+ option on the LCI E92, don't know why but they seem to have done away with the 'package' options.

Bad move not ticking the BT box though.

You could always buy a mondeo ghia, lots of 'free' standard kit on those.

Then when you come to sell it it will be exactly the same as all the other mondeo ghia's out there - worth bugger all.

Options make the car. Pay for the right ones when it's new and it will make a much better / more desireable car for selling on..

I'd imagine after many years of having 'incompatible' phones people might bulk at forking out £500 for bluetooth. I've never had a phone that was truly compatible with BMW bluetooth so I'd rather upgrade the stereo instead. Bonkers it's not standard though.

PJS, how do you find the performance compared to the 335i?

I know it's a slower car, but how do they feel when compared?

Will be easier to answer when i get back in mine I guess.

Straight away the 330D has much more torque in evidence and is rapid without even trying, the power delivery is just so different. And where the D might shift down one gear, the 335i would shift down 2, or even 3. The engine note of the D is dull that makes the sensation of effortless speed even more weird.

Only when the i is heading towards the red line is it quicker. And it sounds ace. Thats why I'm in a petrol for the first time in a long time,

400 miles later, at 42mpg. (where mine would do 26 mpg, and my previous 330d would do 36mpg) Impressed even more, goes back tomorrow.

Learning more about the SE suspension/18inch rft wheel combo, I'd go as far to day you get 50% improvement in ride compare to my usual sports suspension/19ich rft, whilst getting 90% of the handling (if that makes sense).

Well, seeing as one is new, and mine is 3 years old, yes. Then I'd sell it, bank £10k, and buy a 07 335i sport.
