Gentlemen...your suggestions/comments please.

Ok guys, I think the E90 323i, 325i, 328i and 330i modding (especially increasing hp/tq) vs. getting a 135i or 335i has been beaten to death here on E90 post as well as other similar BMW enthusiasts sites. I love my 330i, don't get me wrong. It's a great car...perfect balance between power, handling, creature comforts and style. My question is...what I should I do next? I've done intake, suspension (just H&R sport springs), PBX, SSK, rims, tires. I'm thinking of going all out and getting the full Supersprint setup...from headers all the way back to muffler (headers, test pipes, no res, muffler). This setup goes for US$4,350 at TMS. Also, considering the 3.64 differential also from TMS at US$1,350. Other small bits and pieces are lightened flywheel from Clutchmasters. BBK will obviously come after IF I do decide to go this route. The other route that I may go towards would be to just invest all that money and simply get another car i.e 135i, 335i or RS4 (tougher, but not impossible).

Like I said, don't get me wrong...I love my 330i. Just have this sudden urge for more power. BTW, for those who don't know me well, I'm not a reckless driver. Haven't had a speeding ticket in 15 years. I guess I agree with the saying "it's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it".

Your comments/suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Thanks guys.

Wil

If your car in it's current form suits your needs, what's the point?

On the flip side...drive a modded 335i.

been down this road many times....always better to start from a higher platform and mod from there. a stock 335 would be much quicker than a modded 330 no doubt.

looks like you only care about HP?
if that's not the case....how about invest some money into suspension? since you have spring, and sounds like you can afford them all.. get dampers or coilovers, and start build your suspension from there maybe? just my .2

Consider getting a new 335i. The power is also used down low, where you wont' be speeding...more for passing and getting up to speed form a stop light...its quite fun.

GO test drive!

I think we've all battled the "need vs. want" dilema. In all honesty, my 330i well exceeds my needs. If it was needs I was concerned about, anything with 4 wheels, goes and stops would suit my need. Since, I have a sufficient car to cover my needs...it's the want in all of us car enthusiasts that drives us haha...I'm sure you'll all agree, once you start modding it's tough to stop. As for power, there's never enough power.

After reading all your comments, I am leaning towards a 335i or 135i. :-)

Thanks for your comment. You too huh? I assume most of us who doesn't own an N54 motor car has thought about this.

I'm looking for a balance between power and handling. The suspension is coming soon. I need to put back on the OEM sport springs then bring it into the dealer so they can change out all my bushings under warranty. When that's done, it'll be coilovers or new dampers. If I go with shocks and struts, what do you recommend? Koni FSD with the existing H&R sport springs? Bilstein shocks? Or, simply a set of H&R coilovers?

Believe me...I can't afford all those mods at once. I'm just kinda planning things out and see what options I have.

Yea, I noticed that. You guys with the 335's reach 60, 80, 100+ so effortlessly...I'm readlining and rowing my gears just to try and keep up :-)

T&C gave me one for the weekend while I was getting the passenger leather seat fixed...all I can say is DAMN!!! I've also driven a few of my friends "slightly" modded 335's and it's a blast! Even in stock form, the car is quick!

Heard too many problems with those. Oh yea...those are the Bilstein PSS10 B16 with the electronic dampening. Found out those are like $3,500 + another $500-$800 install as quoted by Frank at Speedstar due to all the wiring involved. I think I'll pass on the electronic stuff :-)

Yea, it's been a while since we all last met. Post a bbt meet and let's see what happens.

You can also call me to go for a coffee anytime. Still not working yet. Just doing the odd detail here and there.

I found someone that sells them for 1900US, but I didn't know about the install price.

$1,900 is not bad for that system. Thens there's, shipping, brokerage fees, currency exchange haha...not cheap! :-). What are you running Farley?
