Buy Koni Yellows?
Hey all,
I just picked up a pair of H&R sports, 5mm & 10mm spacers to go with my 19" VMR 701's. Anyways, now I want to get some Koni Yellows. I've been searching the private party sales but none seem to show up. At the same time, I'm wondering if it's a smart or dumb move to buy used shocks. So, I'm looking to buy new I guess. Where's the best place (read cheapest) to buy? Any other suspension component needed? Sways, etc? FYI: I plan to track my car 4-6 times a year. Want a well-planted ride but not too stiff/harsh a ride. Thanks in advance, Dan |

not sure on where to get them but they are out there for the i models....the very first suspension I installed 3 years ago was Koni Yellows/ H&R springs, and the owner has had no complaints ever since....

Yeah, it definitely seems like the right way to go. Know of any DIY's out there? I've searched and can't seem to find any.

I'd tell you to go new with any type of suspension modding but I'm biased.
As for where: Hit up LT and/or checkout tirerack -- I believe they're still having that koni sport promo.

KONIs are not the average shock absorber, they feature a number of standards that make them unique. You can fine tune your BMW's ride and handling with the precision damper adjustments. KONIs improve the ride and handling of your car. The damping characteristics are developed for each particular application. KONIs are adjustable, which means that you can influence the behavior of the car to meet your preferences (ride comfort, handling balance, etc.). It also means that wear can be compensated. (However, you will probably never need it.) They are designed for a specific car or even special driving conditions. A KONI is not a simple copy of the original but a tailor made design to get the best handling and ride characteristics from the vehicle.

Hmm looks like they're no longer offering it.. there was a $75 rebate on top of the sale price
+1, looks this is one of the best deals at the moment if you're willing to wait

I'm considering used to save a few bucks but then again, I am worried about longevity. Who really knows how old or many miles are on a used set unless the seller can provide a receipt. I would hate to buy a set that may have been used for years prior.
One thing's for sure, I am SOLD on the Koni Yellows! Nothing but praise everywhere I look. |

Just wanted to say that I got the shocks from Harold and HPAutowerks.
They are truly a class act. Excellent service and even better communication, before and AFTER the sale. Oh, and their price was the best around! |

Yeah HPAutowerks seems to have a good price right now. I'm looking to do the same setup H&R sports with Koni Yellows. Anyone have issues with the koni yellows blowing out on them?

Aside from adjustability and price, why would one choose Yellows instead of FSDs? Also, can the yellows be adjusted easily, or does it require putting the car on ramps or a lift? Tx.

I was originally sold on them because a) every review I've seen has been nothing but positive and b) I rode in ofmalik's car and was impressed with the handling. Now that I have them, I can say I'm completely satisfied. The car handles even better and I have yet to find a downside. I got them for the low price of $578 from HPautowerks. That combined with H&R sports makes for a great combination. The front struts can be easily adjusted. Nothing to it. The rears have to be removed to be adjusted. It may sound more difficult than it actually is. All you do is remove the trunk interior. Unbolt the shocks at the top. Then unbolt the shock at the bottom of the arm. Then you can compress and remove it with all remaining suspension parts attached. Once you're familiar with the suspension, it probably takes 15-30 minutes a side. Of course, I'm happy with mine at roughly 75% so I have no plans on adjusting the rears any time soon. |

Long time yellow customer, the yellows on my e90 have been on for about 60K or so. Perfect.
