Video module/rear camera install
Aleks of Alekshop from California is willing to come to Boston to do installs of his video module/camera kits. We just need to get a some people lined up to make it worth his time. The proposed dates are June 25-27.
His kit is outstanding - very clean and integrates with the OEM system seamlessly. On top of that, he is a great guy who really cares about doing things right. Check out his website to see what he has to offer. The video kits fit all E9X and E60 series BMWs. http://alekshop.com/ Here's a thread showing some of the installs: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=330640 As well as other products: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=380566 http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=357003 I am not affiliated with Alekshop - I just want him to come out to Boston to do an install on my car. PM me or sign up below: 1. WCH 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. |

I'd be interested if he used the other type of camera - the one that mounts in the trunk button area instead of the license plate light. Can he do this too? If so, there's a good chance I'll be in...

I don't know if it is exactly the same unit but they all seem to work the same way. The module gives you a rear camera and up to three video inputs. Check out Alekshop and you can see all of the different options there are (cameras, DVD players, night imaging etc).

The DVD player can be installed in your glove box or under the seat and plugs into the video module. The images are pretty good and can be played while the car is moving.
See the links above for some images. PM me if you are interested. |

My question about the DVD Player is that there is an option for full screen and half screen. Does both options still allow you to use the nav system? Or does the half screen still allow you to have nav working at the same time and cut out audio from DVD player when the nav wants to output something?

The video can be half or whole screen - your choice. In either mode, the Nav works and will give you instructions. Your bluetooth also works.
The module really integrates seamlessly as OEM. PM me if you are interested. You can also write Aleks directly. |

Thanks for the response! A follow up question - if you want audio to play through the unit (from DVD or iPod) do you lose the AUX input on the OEM stereo? I ask because I have the iPod connection option and like the control via iDrive. Do you lose this option with this unit?
