Well i have just bought some splitters for my E90 MSport, i have not tried fitting them yet and i'm not sure if i will be keeping them yet..

My question/s is how have you guys fitted them, with what materials and have you taken any prevention against damaging the original bumber underneath by covering it first?

i don't want to go scratching my original paintwork if i'm not going to keep them on!

Thanks for any advise you have

Edit: sorry my car is a 2007 saloon

usually they use 2 of the existing screws that are on the underside of the front bumper.

you should also use 3m tape on top of the lower lip and just in front of the wheel well on the side of the front bumper.

apply the tape to the front bumper first instead of the splitter, then lift and position the splitter over it. this will minimize the amount of contact while positioning and eliminate scratching. the tape is thick enough to stop the parts making too much contact.

quick question, can you use adhesion promoter like that? i have always used it as a primer directly on plastic before base color of paint. if you used it over clearcoat on bumper would the promoter ever be removable? or are you saying use it on unpainted back of splitter.

I think you are thinking of another promoter (I am familiar with that one as well) this is a liquid here ya go it has an application sponge included. It works really well

Nope this is the adhesion promoter (it is really sticky)

You clean the area like you would normally, swab this on, place part and done
