Mongoose Mischief BMX
Look what I just purchased, an absolute bargain off ebay!
I purchased a Mongoose Villain in Purple for my eldest sons 8th birthday last year, and ever since, when we go out on bikes, we end up sharing his!!! Its always been at the back of my mind to get one. Well after looking around on eBay last night, I found this one, at only £60 with 15 bids, but right down in cornwall, and it finished at 3pm today, which in my view is a poor time to end a listing due to people working etc. My brother in law is at uni in Plymouth, so its easy to get it collected. I waited until the last 10 seconds, dropped my max mid in of £120, and ended up buying it for £62 - bargain of the year - especially as it was approx £200 new last year, and the guy has spent a further £150 on it, new rims, saddle, crank etc, and its described as mint. I am just going to buy the decals for it, as he has removed the. To say I'm excited is an understatement. I will only have a couple of weeks use before my ankle op, but it will be good physio afterwards! Any other old skool bmxer's on here, Im 37 this month!!!

One day I will buy another BMX, until I discovered girls they were my life.
The excitement I got from things like Hutch Beartraps, Redline Cranks, Haro Bars, Skyway Tuffs etc etc. I will build that quarter pipe one day........ |

I had a Stratton Aero! twas all we could afford when I was younger! The only standard thing about it when I'd finished was the frame!
My favorite Raleigh was the Night Burner;

thats sweet! I just picked up a 93 GT DYNO NITRO on craigslist for $60. I ordered all new parts and will be painting it soon. Back when I was a kid there was no way in hell my parents would buy me a $300-$400 bike. So now that they're cheap i can afford one and build one for my kids =)

Here was my transport in the Eighties - Raleigh Andy Ruffell Special...
(currently going for £100 on ebay ) Although this was the absolute nutz at the time (especially with the white wheels) I still wanted a Mongoose. I remember at the time, where I lived, this thing was like turning up in a Zonda in today's terms (oh for those days again!!!). I always remember seeing a lad up the road years later on the exact same bike as mine. When I mentioned this my Father told me "it is yours, I gave it to him" - I was furious

Had this in red, weighed a ton. I was more into skateboarding than BMX, still am (never too old). Got a few friends who have made a career out of BMX, one's a photographer for Backyard magazine and the other is a pro on Federal.

I think the funniest thing about these bikes, is seeing overgrown sixteen year old riding them, but really wanting a moped.

Had a Mongoose, with Trick Nuts, Yellow Mag wheels and a full pad set.
Similar to this one but with Mag Wheels Remember if you buckled your Mags, you could throw them in the freezer to sort them out ? Shame you can't do that with BMW Wheels..............lol. Good old Days. |

That looks identical to the one I had (including the wheels) but I ran with a full set off black and white checked Cal Lite pads.
