I changed my rear tyres last year, in July according to the receipts, and mileage at the time was 39129...

kwik fit yesterday said that my other rear tyre will need to be changed soon as theres only about 3-4mm left and legal limit is 1.6mm...and I've only done 48000 so far ....

lets say i change them when i reach 50 000 miles...

so I got about 10 000 miles out of my rear bridgestones...is this normal?

How many miles do you guys get out of your rear tyres?

i normally get about 17k out of rears no burn outs like carlos does, i know u do as i was behind u lol, but i do floor it in low gears

I got 24k miles out of my rear RFT's and had 4-5mm left on non-RFT's with 16k miles on them (including a 'ring trip) when I sold the 335d

huh! You serious Carlos? 10k....for rear tyres....bought them brand new from kwik fit....I haven't done any trackdays!....but i do keep the dsc n dtc off...but still 10k!!!!!!!!!!

24k miles, thats what i wanted, more reasonable for the pocket!...

Yeah even 17k is still "acceptable"....

but i think 10k is excessively low and a rip off!

How's it a rip off? Surely a lot is to do with your driving conditions, road surfaces and driving style.

I think we know why the run-flat tyre compounds are soft, we wouldn't have much grip if they weren't.

Pete, I spent about £500 for 2 rear tyres!...and got about 10k...

Never had a RWD car that would keep its rears for over 10K before.
If this torque monster can manage less than a set a year then I'm well impressed!

That's the rub, isn't it? The cost is too high.

I only got about 14.5k miles from my Bridgestone 17" rears, but the wear did slow as they wore down, at 10k miles thought I only had a couple of thousand left in them.

To be honest I personally wouldn't run 19" wheels on a 3-series, a luxury, or burden, too far...IMO. I didn't even want 18", as 17" are bad enough to look after.

14k from a pair of Michelin Pilot PS2 RFTs. Sadly a lot has to do with driving style and I am guilty of booting it out of corners/roundabouts But if you are going to drive like a granny stick to a 318/320 IMHO

I really hate driving around with one brand new tyre and one part worn tyre....but another rear tyre will cost me £240!!!! .....

I got 26K out of the rears (Michelin) and just changed fronts at 38K (Michelin also)although there was still quite a bit left.

I guess it depends how you drive!!

The 335i seems to eat tyres - must be the low down grunt.

Hard acceleration in lower gears is when the wheel torque is highest thus the tyre wear will be greatest.

The rear PS2's on the 335i were 2-3mm left after 12k, whereas on my 330i the rears did 25k+ easy.

Fronts 20k probs.

My E93 was eating rears in 6-8k miles due to the excessive camber on the rear wheels (5mm tread in the middle, down to threads on the inside )

The M3 wears the rears evenly - at 6k miles they were down to 2-3mm ish - killed them last month at North Wealds doing an afternoon of drifting and barely managed the 150miles home (they were that bad!!!....or is that bald )

Front at 6k are down to approx 4mm but put new ones on anyway as the aforementioned track fun scrubbed them badly on the outside edges. (kept em as spares for any future fun tho' )

i got about 20k miles from the original bridgestone runflats, were basically bald on inner edges when they were changed. to be honest i was quite impressed as it was relatively enthusiastic driving and in most other cars ive got 10-15k miles. ive got some michelin ps2s at the moment, and i dont think they will be lasting as long.
