M3 Rear Subframe Bushings Install

I am about to put some KW V1x coilovers on early next week and ordered the M3 rear subframe bushings to do along with it. I am just trying to prepare ahead of time and was wondering how difficult these bushings will be to install and if I will need any special tools? I searched around but couldnt really find any definitive answers to my questions. Thanks for all your help, looking forward to less body roll.

This is not a DIY, unless you own a shop with access to portable hydraulic press and rack.

I did mine at home. It's a lot of work, but mostly just time consuming. I used an E36 subframe bushing tool with great success. It wasn't a perfect fit, but I got it to work OK. I did not use a press or any hydraulics. I'm glad I did, since the M3 bushings make the rear end feel much more precise.

I used the 3026 tool, which is your first link. I borrowed it from a friend.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

Looks like I will be taking it to a shop after I install the coilovers to get the bushings in. Should I assume about 4-5 hours install time for the bushings? I am guessing about 4 hours for the coilovers.

And even though I already know the answer, I will ask the question anyway. Is it really worth it to put the bushings in? For all the labor/parts, it will be pretty expensive.

Depends on the shop what they will charge. I was told 5.5 to 6 hours for the entire (front and rear) M3 suspension bit kit that Tischer sells, including the bushings.

A lot of shops that work almost entirely on discretionary spending car modifications, have come down on labor, especially if you get the parts through them. Deflation in action.

6-7 hours for the subframe bushings???? Are they that difficult to install? On most BMWs if you have the correct "beer can removal" tool, the subframe bushings are a pretty quick job.

These bushings are a bitch. IMO the job is easiest with the subframe out. If you are going in there and have any thoughts of installing a rear sway bar then definitely do them both at the same time.

Brian MN recently did his, and could provide useful input.

If these things are this difficult, then I def wont be trying to install them myself. I think the plan will be for me to install the coilovers next week, and then make an appointment with TischerBMW to have them install the rear bushings and a M3 rear sway bar since I will be in Columbia, MD in a few weeks anyways for some training. Thanks for everyones help!
