TPMS - how to tell if it's broken?
So I just bought some wheels from a member here and he mentioned to me that the right rear TPMS sensor wasn't working. He thought that they would probably just needed to be re-installed.
I went to discount tire and the guy there used some handheld machine and sure enough the other 3 sensors were sending a signal except that one. He said that they should still send a signal even if it were mounted wrong and that I probably need a new sensor. He showed me a picture of a TPMS sensor and said that if it's not attached to the valve stem like the seller thought it was, then it's probably broken. Any validity to this? And how could I even check? Think I just need a rebuild kit and re-install? If so where can I get a rebuild kit? Otherwise, I'll just order a new one from tirerack.com/ Thanks! |
