What Parts for a 17 year old ?
I've been saving up money for my car, and my dad went to the bank and checked up on my savings, and he came home surprised about how much I had in my bank, so he asked why I had so much, and I told him it was for my 335i id like to purchase within two years. He said if I was so encouraged to buy the car, he'd pay for most of it, so I'll prob have a little chunk of money for mods (still saving for gas, food, college, etc) What would you guys recommend ? I'd personally go for suspension, sway bars, lightweight wheels and tires first, but I need something to go off of.
Thanks Okman |

What does "17 year old" got to do with it? These types of "i'm only 19 but getting a 335" come off as bragging. Not saying you are but that's how most of them come off.

I would find a good performance driving school in your area and take the course. You may be an excellent driver, but the course would only help make you better.
I was roadracing motorcycles at age 15 and I thought I was super fast. I took a professional riding 2 day track class and it showed me how to be fast, consistent, and smooth. It also prepares you for the unexpected. |

I really hope I didn't come off like that, I joined the forum not to show off, but learn about the vehicle im interested in and gain all the information I can before I get behind the wheel. I am truly sorry if I came off too strong about the whole thing.

I really hate threads like this. Daddy buying their kid a BMW and it's their first car. Yeah....it sounds like you are bragging. Weak. Maybe the first thing you should get is a drivers license.

You should also start out with a slower car first... anything in the mid 14s through the 1/4th is plenty fast enough for a first car. Just my opinion though... |

Learn to drive and I mean drive well. Then you go and get the car and finally the parts. Right now this is kind of like buying rubbers and not having a chick to use them on.

Lets give the kid a break. We all know we would have loved to have a 335i for a first car. Half of us would have gotten arrested or killed, but we would have loved the car. There are some great 15-20 y/o drivers and or racers. With age comes experience, but we were all young at one point.
I remember a reporter asking a driver why he crashed. The driver said, "I went into turn two and ran out of talent". LMAO Last edited by ktmsmr12; 05-28-2010 at 05:37 PM.. |

my mother put up her credit to lease my 335i (I was 18) i have been paying the payments myself $485 per month + insurance $250 on my own for 16 months. If you really want the car and your dad is helping you more power to you. Just respect what you drive and you will respect it more when you start paying payments lol.
