Obsessed or Fanatic?

So last night I was going out, so of course, the car had to be clean. The only problem was that it was 16 degrees outside. After braving the frigid air washing the car, I got back to my apartment, started drying it, and the paint felt kind of funny- I looked closer and saw that the water on the car had completely iced over. Desperate measures were needed, so I blew my hot breath on a little spot on the car, which melted the ice, and I could wipe it clean. I did this around the entire car. While I was.. breathing.. people were driving by, and giving me the 'You're insane' look. Has anyone else done something like this before? Am I still a normal BMW driver, or should I see a doctor...
PS- Despite mother nature's attempts, the bimmer is clean. (Sorry for the cell phone pics)

actually you went a little over and beyond my insanity level. i leave her dirty at any temp below freezing. i will however go to the touch less wash if shes real salty and dirty but i dont do this very often at all. i dont think you need a doctor and am glad that your car is clean. next time you do this make a video for us.

I used to be a fanatic about keeping my dub clean. Whether there was snow on the ground or not. The water would freeze up occasionally, the first time I just sat there, trying to wipe the ice off by hand, then I just used some common sense and pulled her into the heated garage. Viola, no more ice.

Little bit obsessed. You should have bought a grey car, so you can't see it's dirty.

I did the same thing but it was only 55F outside. However, where I come from 55F is cold and yes ppl were staring at me like I am a nut case. I washed and dry it in 1hr 5 minutes (including tires). Well, 45 minutes wash outside and 20 minutes drying inside the garage. But my car has not been washed for a little over 3 weeks so had to do it. However, 15F is a little crazy.

Thats intense. :rocks:

In Canada our garage doesn't usually fall below freezing so just go to a wand wash and then park it inside. If its especially cold we have a propane space heater.

I'm guessing you don't have a garage?

Not too bad.. About 15 yrs ago my father sent me out to the coin operated car wash just before christmas to wash his caddy. It was SOO cold that the water would freeze on the car and on the chamois within minutes.

You can hurt the one you love.... Washing a car can be very damaging to the paint. Any dirt particles that are not washed and lifted off will scratch the paint when it is rubbed or dryed. Be careful.

The general rule is that you should not wash your car unless you do it very carefully. Better to wash it one right every two weeks than damage the paint by poor quality washing more often.

I wash my car all winter long. As long as the water pipes aren't frozen I'm out there. All my neighbors think I'm nuts. I'm obsessed, what can I do?
