Help with HID kit (lights out but come on when fogs are on)

Hi guys, I bought my car (06 325xi) a little less than a year ago from a fellow forum member. Things have been great so far except for the aftermarket HID kit (I believe it's the e 90 andy kit but I'm not sure), I've intermittently had issues with it (hit a large bump/pothole-->lights go out; hit another bump--> back on; sometimes "slamming" my hood down would get them to turn back on too.

When it first started giving me issues, I got this http://yfrog.com/2oimg0458fj error along with a very loud humming/clicking coming directly from these resistors (not the typical slight/quiet hum of the lights coming on) http://yfrog.com/2oimg0454cj http://yfrog.com/bfimg0455oj. So even though all of the lights in the front should have been on, this is what the car looked like http://yfrog.com/fvimg0456pj.

Had a few more weeks with no problems or whatever until the other day when that same error light (the exclamation point inside the light) came back. It now basically stays on constantly, but no noise or anything from the resistors now. Lights look like this http://yfrog.com/j3img0844sj.

Admittedly I pretty much have no idea what I'm talking about or what I'm doing, I just want to get a fix for what's goin on (if that means a new kit, so be it) so I can stop worrying about visibility/getting pulled over late at night.

Thank you very much for your time, I really appreciate any help you guys have.

Sounds like a bad ground to me. Could possibly also be a bad ballast.

that error light is the bulb out warning. the last picture you posted shows the xenons on, and you say, you are still getting the error, correct? check all your lights, brake lights, fogs, drl, signals...you might have blew a bulb. this happened to me when i was changing a foglight bulb, i somehow blew out a brake light bulb and didnt realize until i walked around the car.

as for the the on/off lights, could be a bad ground or ballast like fisherbln said

It's best you get rid of aftermarket HID kit and go with a reliable setup such as the MTEC.

I searched/looked at some of the MTEC stuff in your sig/on your site but I'm not sure what I need. Could you point me in the right direction please?

I really have no idea what I'm doing with this (never wired anything, etc.) I just bought the car with it already installed...in terms of getting it uninstalled/the new one installed, would the dealer/shops do that kind of thing?

Yeah, the Xenons are on but the other lights next to them don't seem to come on anymore. The Xenons have also flashed off (for between 5-20 seconds) and then back on when I've been driving.
---------------------------------------
Just to update, I turned the car on and checked the back out: all the break lights are good to go.
Here's the issue though, with the switch turned to Auto, this is what the lights look like: http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/7287/img0857as.jpg (just the drivers side angels are on)
When I hit the fog switch: http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/7315/img0856k.jpg

But regardless, the bulb out warning is constant.

Thanks for the help. Seriously, even just posting here to say too advanced so I wasn't hoping is really appreciated.

That being said, worth it to try and figure this out or should I just gut it and get something new (MTEC like the other poster mentioned, etc.)?

OK, so I checked the CC-ID and it was CC-ID 89. Bentley manual says "dipped beam right failure" which would make sense given that the right side angel eyes don't come on without the fog switch depressed. Since I now know what error is throwing, where do I go from here?

My best guess would be that there is something wrong with the wire harness that is installed. Did the car have factory projector headlights or were those added by the previous owner?

yea something must be crossed or shorting out. Do you have the corner delete harness on this setup? i know the headlights and fogs are connected by this harness, so maybe something went wrong.

Lights now flicker, sometimes like a strobe light, and it's happened a few times while driving. I think I'm ready to throw in the towel, too much of a hassle for me. Can someone show me what I should buy to avoid this? I have a friend that used to work at a honda dealership, should be able to install/put me in touch with someone who can...I just want to clear this up ASAP before I get a ticket.

Thanks again for your time and help if you've bothered to post in this thread or contact me. I really truly appreciate it, been on my own a bit here not knowing what I'm doing.

found the problem! bad resistor out causing the relay to flicker because it was unstable.... With new plug / play ballasts you'll be fine bro =)
