Please help: looking to lease 335i Tx area

Hey guys,
It seems like I'll be moving down south (tx and Mississippi) in a month from Canada. I contacted one dealer in Houston concerning a quote for a fully loaded 335 coupe and he was asking $845/mth for 15k/yr, with 0 down but $4500 due at delivery (ttl and other charges).

That sounds ridiculous as I can get a better price in canada, which should be the opposite. Can someone tell me what I should expect monthly wise and if there are sales ppl on these forums, pls pm me...thnx.

What is the MSRP of the vehicle that you are going to build? 2011? 335i or 335is?
And I expect it is a 36 month lease with 15k miles/year?

Garage List
2007 335i  [0.00]
When talking about pricing, people generally should list as much as possible. It's hard to be accurate about numbers when you aren't compare exact like to like cars, especially when our cars vary so much in options.

Please list:
MSRP price
Invoice price
Residual
Money Factor
Lease terms
Mileage
Other hidden costs
Downpayment/Drive-off
Is the monthly payment post-tax or pre-tax?

I don't live in Texas but it is my understanding that in most states, sales tax is paid on monthly lease payments, not full vehicle value.

Texas laws require that the lessor (the lease company) pay sales tax on the full value of any vehicle they buy from a dealer and lease back to a lessee (you and me). This is different from most other states in which no such tax is charged to the lessor, or the tax is administered in a different way.

Where is your residence going to be at? TX or MS?

As you can see, there's way too many factors to discuss numbers w/o all the details.

Hey guys,
Residence will be Tx but will be going back & forth to Jackson, MS so will have a place there as well.

This is what I built on the bmwusa.com:
335i coupe
Rear-wheel drive
Base MSRP
$42,650

Mineral White Metallic
Coral Red/Black Dakota Leather
Bamboo Anthracite Wood trim
Premium Package
Sport Package
Sports leather steering wheel with paddle shifters
STEPTRONIC automatic transmission
Heated front seats
Navigation system
Harman Kardon surround sound system
iPod and USB adapter
Anti-theft alarm system
Park Distance Control
Total MSRP as Built$54,775

15000 miles/yr, 36 mths

I don't know what the lease factor is but I'll be using the company name or brother as co- signer, and all have excellent credit rating. I don't know how the sales guy came up with $845 and $4500 but thats all he emailed me.

Also, it seems adding the Mpkg will only add bout $1000 to the MSRP as I have it above but color will have to be changed to alpine white.

Thanks in advance for all the help.

I ordered a car very similar to yours and I obtained the following (only first months payment, title and license due at delivery ~ $900):

2011 335i Coupe 3 year, 12k lease $0 down
Packages (M Sport, Premium, Navigation, Sound System, Comfort Access, Automatic)
MSRP: $55,175

Sales Price: $50935 (Quoted as invoice of $50765 + $350 profit - $1305 auto tran credit)
Acquisition: $725
Doc Fee: $195
Training: $200
Residual: 61%
Money Factor: 0.0023

Monthly payments of: $674.51 before tax ($708.91 afterwards)

Who knows what the money factor will do this month. I think you have a lot of wiggle room left in your deal.

MSRP : 54775
say Invoice is 50500 for your car (pretty close I think).
Add $800 for MACO, dealer profit etc. Then subtract the Auto Trans Credit of 1300

Net Selling Price (after rebates): $50,000
Money Factor: 15k/36/335i coupe : 59%
Money Factor: 0.00230 (add to that minimum dealer markup) : 0.00245
Residual : 54,775*0.59 = $32,317
Value used: $50,000 - $32,317 = $17683
Interest of used Value: (50,000 + 32,317)*0.00245*36 = $7260

Total Cost: $24,943
Split over 36 months: $692 (without tax).
Add 6-8% tax to the above number. Double check how the tax is calculated on lease in TX.

Doc fee may vary. In CA, it was $45 last month.
Some dealers do not charge training separately, perhaps it is taken into account in the selling price.
Acquisition fee is $725, some dealers may try to charge you $925.

Dont know what $4500 your dealer is asking for. If that is going to be Refundable Multiple Security deposits (MSDs), your monthly payments should fall further. Search forums to learn more.

Do your homework and be aware how numbers are calculated and what are you willing to pay in terms of dealer profit. I would say around $500 above invoice should be a good price.

Make sure you know what all rebates BMWFS has on the 335i Coupe and point them out to the dealer if they are not giving them by default.

Good luck!

Hey,
thanks so much for all the help. Much appreciated. According to the dealer, the $4500 is tax, title, license and other fees.

Does Multiple securties bring the lease factor down a lot in the states. It doesn't help much with bmw canada.

That's pretty good..I priced out that same exact car but instead of the sound system had heated seats and the iPod adapter; I was at $620/month with taxes and fees due at signing; which was $4,247 to be exact with the $650 refundable deposit. So I'm not too sure who got the better deal between us

I think both deals are pretty good. What sales price did you negotiate it down to? And what money factor did you get? Any markup on the usual fees?

The sales price was $500 over invoice; which I can't remember off the top of my head what that was. As far as fees I don't believe there was a markup; taxes took up about $2300, deposit $650, first months $620, bank fee $800 or what not

I don't think many people are jealous of Wisconsin taxes.

Man, i can't get anywhere near these prices and i've already talked to 3 dealers in houston. I received a great quote on a fully loaded g37s coupe ($534/mth incl taxes, 39 mths, 15k/yr and only first mth due at signin).
Honestly, I really don't want to leave bmw but $800/mth with $4500 due at signing sounds crazy. Does texas not sell enough bimmers for them to reduce their margins. Anyone know of any good sales ppl in texas who would do deals similiar to what you guys got.

Nway thanks again for all the responses. At the very least I've learned how leases (money factor etc) work in the U.S.

Basically to break down my deal exactly;

Money factor is .00215 with 59% residual.

MSRP of the car $53,225; Sell price is $49,440($500 over invoice)

$620/month with $4,247 due at signing..$650 security deposit, $800ish bank, $2300ish taxes.

So to those asking; taxes are not rolled into the payment.
