Cause for oxygen sensor failure
My car has 36000 miles. It started erratically recently. Finally got a check engine light today and the code is P112D. Dealer appointment Wednesday.
Is this common on N52? Will it be a every 2 years maintenance item? What can contribute to make it fail, other than gas obviously? My mpg dropped a bit recently (from 21-22 to 19-20).... can it be the reason of it? |

O2 sensors go bad for all manufacturers and is not uncommon.

I had a mouse chew through the wires on one of my O2 sensors in my truck a month ago. I might be that. Not sure about Canada, but most US insurance companies cover rodent damage under comprehensive insurance.
