What could this be?
Hi everyone again,
So this have happened to me before...last time it was the ignition coil...So I was driving on the Hwy put my car in sports mode and floored didn't really feel the boost but what I got was an engine service soon light with power reduced on my iDrive screen, stayed there for maybe 30 seconds and then all gone all of a sudden. Should I be worried? |

1. take tune out (if you have one)
2. take it to the dealer it seems you have a HPFP (high pressure fuel pump) failure.

Nope no the tune, Its could be an array of things
1. leaking boost somewhere and your getting a limp modes when you hit a cartain psi witch seems like top end. 2. You could be misfiring, Its seems like you might have a bad coil/s injector/s because my car misfires and limps ( not when iam driving though only when i first start the car in the morning) due to a bad injector. You might have the same problem except a bit worst.

Started a thread about this a while ago, although I haven't bought a new battery since they didn't have any lightweight ones at home, I recharged the old one and all my problems dissapeared. Low battery charge gave me all sorts of funny codes and limps. Mainly throttle position sensor, dsc, tpms and abs. If you only get it while stomping the throttle it might not be the issue though. I only got it while cruising, driving a bit more aggresive I never got any codes. |

Usually with a fuel pressure drop you will feel the car stumble upon sudden WOT just before the CEL, but not necessarily. Do you have access to a BT cable? Check codes before going to the dealer!

Why not take it to a dealer?

you need to get a BT cable and read the codes, otherwise its a guessing game. If it is indeed a boost leak, 30FE code I think, you don't need to go to a dealer; any competent shop that has worked on FI cars should be able to do a smoke test and find the source of the leak.
