Proceed question: Setting UT above 100% possible?

Just a question for Shiv to answer. How would proceed behave if one was to set the configurable UT above 100, say 150..I'm not saying anyone should do this by any means just wandering what would proceed do? Say it happened due to human error (typo)..What safety measures are implemented to prevent severe engine damage if this were the case?

The max allowable value is 100% which equates to a peak of 20psi. Unlike other tunes, th Procede controls boost directly (not as a piggyback) so it can target any given set point and not be influenced by DME-induced offsets/adjustments. This means that there is minimal boost error unlike other approaches result in 1-2psi error due to IAT fluctuations alone. We chose the 20psi limit due to associated hardware limitations (fuel system, map sensor range, turbo capacity, etc). Upon request, we can raise upper boost target to 21psi. Going higher will require adding an external 3bar map sensor.

shiv,

i may soon looking to do hpfp as it got long crank. my dealer already know all the mods i have (stg 3) and shop-foreman even assured me tune/mods are not going to be an issue for hpfp service as long as they can confirm the code for hpfp. i talked to couple of techs at local dealer and been told that they will have to perform software update prior to hardware (actual pump). my question is whether leaving procede at map 0 for the programing be ok or do i have to take the tune off for program update on DME? warranty is not a factor here so i just want to know the feasibility with tune.

Should be but could take longer to do the update.

I took mine out for peace of mind. Also, the tech that programmed mine and replaced my HDP asked me to. (he wanted to be sure that he wouldn't run into any issues) He didn't. Do it just to be sure.

Take it out. Your SA has no control over when a BMW field engineer may come in and take a look around. No one can assure you it is ok. A person on this board who works for a BMW dealership had his procede hanging out of his car in the shop when a BMW field engineer was looking at a car next to his. He got really lucky and kept it from view, but you may not be so lucky.

thanks for input guys.
as i said earlier, i just wanted to know the feasibility of updating DME WITH procede on, hence asking shiv who will know the answer of this.

if he says it can't be done technically without removing the tune, i'll go ahead and remove it, but if it can be done with the procede, i don't really have any other reason to remove it.
MY WARRANTY IS ALREADY EXPIRED SO I DON'T CARE SO MUCH ABOUT ALL THE DRAMA PEOPLE ARE HAVING ISSUES WITH, NOR THE INVISIBILITY.
i guess, for that reason, they don't want to piss off their potential big time cash sucker for turbo/injectors/coils etc etc for just typical $300 hpfp
my local dealer/SA/shop-foreman/techs already know all the mods and they don't really care about as my warranty is already gone.

they are just not sure if it can be done or not.

I believe only in valet mode (map 0) the diagnostic is not enabled hence the programming from the dealer can be done.

Yes, just make sure you turn off CANclear or else BMW wont be able to make updates to your DME.
