Sneak peak: New 335i Intake! :)

Hey Guys,

Just had my intake completed by Jon at 666 Fabrication, and I love it! It sounds awesome and pulls great up top. Main pipe is 3.5 inch. He used a Vibrant filter which may get changed but here it is:

He should be offering them soon to the public.

Not exactly the best looking intake... But if it does the job, who cares, right?

Mmmmm its okay but the market is already saturated with intakes and this one is nothing special...He should work on one for the N55 instead of the N54 IMO since there isn't even one available....This intake will not have to many interest IMO

I like the fabricated look, but I will probably be getting it wrinkle black coated.

Interesting, however I personally don't care for it much, unless there is more to it than I can see. Why put both turbos onto one pipe just to suck hot air anyway? A traditional DCI is better. People forget that turbos spool at slightly different speeds and there are miniature pulses and fighting for air through one pipe is pointless unless you're sourcing some cold air. This is just my 2 cents.

Took a quick clip on my way into work:

PS: SES light is for catless DP's, haven't gotten around to getting a DP fix yet.

I don't understand why he would do that and not finish the pipe out of the engine bay? That seems to be a poor man's CAI.

I bet the decreased filtration efficiency will cost your at least 15% in engine longevity.

a true cold air intake has yet to show significant improvements over a simple dual cone set up. The fear spread around on this forum about non-cai are just simply unfounded.

Also, the "at least 15%" statistic you pulled out of your ass is funny. How about you present data to support that

You guys in CT - what cities are you in? I'm headed that way in July, would enjoy saying hello and checking out the intake in person as well. I've had an AFE DCI on mine for a couple years now, really like it and it definitely makes a diff over the stock intake. Plenty of heat here in Central TX in the summer, no ill effects that I've found thus far.

Wonder if there's a way to add a heat shield like some of the other intakes have? Also, a powdercoat job would give it a really finished look. Nice welding, by the way!

I did do testing and it showed a STETT Performance CAI to provide air that had an average of 9F colder than DCIs without any noticable increase in wastegate duty cycle.
