OK, may be normal, but I really never paid much attention.

Yesterday I pulled in garage, shut car off (didn't set alarm). Came back some time later to find that the 'Park' position indicator light beside shifter was still illuminated? and I think the Start/Stop button was also illuminated? This was a fairly long time after car was shut off - as in at least 30min or so. When I got back in car next day - it was off.

Is it normal for this to stay lit after car shuts off? If so, for what earthly reason? If not, how do I fix it - is it one of those obscure settings in the BC?

BTW, this is on a 09' 328ix E92 without iDrive...

After the first time I noticed it - I have watched it happen the next 2X I shut the car off.

Also, once the lite finally goes off, if I open the door again for some reason to simply get in the car without starting, obviously the interior lights come on, and so does that light on shift indicator - and then it stays on for the cycle all over again - way past after the interior lites fade out.

When I open the car door for any reason, I also hear a very high pitched wine that is barely noticeable that lasts until interior lites go out and when the interior lites go out, it is accompanied by a sound as if solenoids are kicking in/out?

This is basically a new car - bought an 09' with 4000 mi on the clock...

Just thought I'd check if this is normal before I call dealer and make an a$$ out of myself

OK, I confirmed it 2X today - any time door is opened, or just after car is shut off, the 'Park' lite indicator stays lit for at least 1 hr

All right, I broke down and called service. Apparently what I am seeing is normal. Whenever the car is first shut off, or a door is opened, the car keeps several different modules in the car powered up in the background - until the car 'goes to sleep' which he stated could be hrs.

The noise I hear that sounds like solenoids, or electric components shutting down, is the car actually going into sleep mode.

Go figure...
