AISLive shows the ship at Zeebrugge at the moment, schedule seems to have gotten pushed back 1-2 days so far

This ship is tricky. It was in the Channel last night closing in on Southampton, now it's nowhere to be found and the schedule got pushed back another day? Oh well, like you said 2006 delivery isn't happening so I can deal with these little delays.

But really, I find it odd that nobody else is on this ship...?

The Manon is now on her way to Halifax! Only a few more weeks to wait - and as someone who picked up their car this morning, it's well worth the wait. Right now, Picus is doing the new car prep and then it's home for the holidays.

I have been following the ship across the Atlantic over the Christmas holidays. Lots of fun.

It looks like it is @400 miles outside of Nova Scotia.

Do you know how to track it from there? How long it might sit in Nova Scotia? How to track via rail?

I have a long way to go to get to Alberta so I am a little envious that you will get yours before me...

For the most part it seems that Canucks haven't had much success with this. However the Undinites managed to get some very detailed info out of CN.

Norsk also suggested trying the CN Transit Calculator to estimate shipping times.

you betcha. since i can't see my ship while its in the atlantic its been fun to peek in on some of the others.

it looks like Manon slowed down a bit due to weather but has picked up speed closer to the continent. if it gets back up to its 100+ knots/6hr period (as seen on sailwx) you're probably looking at landfall within the day.

it does seem like the Manon has been on a bit of a milk run...

I have read on other posts that vehicles go through VDC's in the U.S. This is where they are inspected, repaired (if necessary) before shipping off. Have not been able to determine if this is the same in Canada. Is there a VDC in Halifax?

What did your dealer tell you about how long you should expect to wait once it is in Nova Scotia?

No VPC's for Canadian cars. My understanding is that in Canada the dealerships prep the cars.

But this does raise an interesting question. I've read about the cosmoline that is applied to cars to protect them during transatlantic shipping. This coating is washed off of US cars at the VPC. Does anybody know if this is done at the Halifax Autoport for Canadian cars?

Concerning the wait time in Halifax - it's like Bremerhaven all over again. No way to know for sure. Your CA may be able to tell you when your car has been loaded on the train but I doubt that most track it that well. I'm thinking about 2 - 3 days. I try not to ask my CA any more than I need to, as I've found that it's more frustrating to get the answers I'm looking for rather than just dealing with having no answers at all (see this thread for more)

If the Manon lands on the 30th (schedule got pushed back another day) then I'm thinking Jan 11-16 for dealer PDI. If I was in your shows I think I'd be looking at Jan 17-22 for delivery.

Thanks for the info. I guess we will have to wait until it actually shows up in Canada. I've heard similar things about the cosmoline. There is a link in the forum (I can't find it now) that shows a video of the VDC in U.S.A. Pretty thorough process of receiving vehicles before sending them off to dealers. Makes me wonder if Canadian quality control is the same by having the dealers prep the cars. There could be some variation there. Oh, well, it is what it is.

Funny thing that the http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/shi...html?call=SIWN tracking website has no up-dates on our ship since 1200 12/28/06.

I see on the Wallenus Wilhelmsen schedule that Manon is scheduled to arrive tomorrow and interestingly enough is scheduled to sail out the same day so I guess that means they will be unloading our cars tomorrow.

Your guess on delivery is probably pretty close. The CN Calculator calculates my delivery to to Edmonton at just over 2 weeks from Nova Scotia, so my dealer's original ETA of end of January looks doable. Still envious of you getting your car earlier though.

I know that Toronto has been having some great "winter" weather lately but have you sourced out your winter wheels and rubber yet? What plans have you?

I have already purchased Style 188 wheels with Michelin Artic Apine II for my winter wheels and rubber. I did not purchase Run Flat winter rubber. My vehicle useage keeps me pretty close to major centres and I figure with cell phone and BMW Assist, it's a gamble I am comfortable with.

I'll be using my 17" non-RFT Pirelli winter rubber from my e46 this winter, with a set of 17" alloys I purchased from Tire Rack in November. They've been waiting patiently in my garage since then. Plan is to arrange delivery on a clear, sunny day and drive home carefully, then mount the winter set at home. Haven't yet decided if I'm going to tote around a tire repair kit.

No idea what's up with the Manon. Noticed yesterday afternoon that there were no more updates on sailwx.info. Either the ship disappeared or they turned off their VOS transponder. (there are other ships in that area that are not showing updates on sailwx.info so I'm not particularly concerned) Will have to keep an eye out on AISLive to see when it turns into Halifax harbour.

hello, my E90 335i is also on the Manon. I have been eagerly anticipating it's arrival at NYC for my car to be unloaded. I was disappointed to see of the 2 day delay from the original schedule, but oh well. I hope our cars arrive soon and without too much damage!

I have been going through withdrawal! I picked up the car in Munich on 11/30/06 and put 1100 miles on the thing in 1 week! It is truly an amazing vehicle, as all of our fellow poster's have mentioned. Unfortunately, the thrill of driving in Germany can't be experienced here in the USA, damn cops!
