Which tyres would you fit?
Hi,
I'm a newbie on here having lurked for some time. One of the runflats on my 330D E91 has a slow leak but as it's down to about 4mm of tread. The other tyre on the rear has about 6mm. The fronts are about 9mm. So I could fit a pair of run flats on the back. I'm not impressed with them so I've been thinking about switching to Non-Run flats. They are 225/40R18 on the front and 255/35R18 on the back. As I've used Micheldever Tyres for years they were one of the first companies I spoke to. They've offered me Falken FK452 for £413 fitted. Camskill can undercut them (about £350) but I'd need to get them fitted locally or they'll supply Vredesteins for £430. Which way would you go? Regards Doug |

Vreds every time - They consistently come top on tyre tests, even better than F1's

I switched to Conti SC3s non run flats - utterly brilliant tyres and the best in the wet.
In last months Evo, they utterly thrash every other tyre in a big test. |

I too have a soft spot for the old Conti 3's.

Yes, but tested exclusively on an MX-5 ... and it states the Contis "were designed specifically for the MX-5" .... the tests carried out at the Contidrom (testing facilities for Continental tyres).
Hmmmm. D.

Michelin PS2s have been the choice of many members on here. Having witnessed E92Fan's car around the ring, I know they grip fairly well.

If you want ultimate dry grip - PS2s
If you want great dry grip and excellent wet weather performance - CSC3s Dave - maybe but they've also won loads of other tyre tests. |

OP - change all 4 and sell your old fronts on Ebay - buyer to collect of course.
I got £150 for a pair of my front 225/40/18 RFT PS2's with 6mm on left on them. I even got £30 for the almost bald rears FFS! And the guy sent a courier to pick them up! You should get £200 for yours, that'll cover nearly half your new tyres! Try www.event-tyres.co.uk Brilliant mobile fitters and they'll beat camskil et al. With camskill, local fitting will cost you £60 at least plus all the hassle if you buy loose tyres. |

Second vote for Event Mobile Tyres here - excellent price, excellent service, and their fitters are alloy-friendly
ETA: Falken 452's @ £256.84 for the pair, F1-A's @ £354.72 for the pair. That's fitted and balanced on your driveway or work carpark while you sit inside and drink coffee Last edited by parapaul; 07-22-2010 at 05:11 AM.. |

If you are considering the Falken 452s, then don't rule out the 912s. They are available in XL rating in your sizes and are a newer tyre. From what I've read and heard, they do trade a little of the grip levels of the 452 but they are a LOT quieter and last longer, which probably makes them more suitable for the kind of day to day driving most of us do.
I have a set on my 535d and they are head and shoulders above the Bridgestones I took off, particularly in cold damp conditions. A neighbour swapped the OEM conti sports on his Focus and thought they were just as good. |

Has anyone had experience of the new Continental 5P tyres, their higher performance tyres for bigger wheels?
I have seen very few reviews so far because they are so new but I've just purchased some 19" 225Ms and was either looking at Conti SC3s or 5Ps. In two minds as price wise they are very similar...... |
