do all 335i's idle like crap??

I don't get it! When my cars cold it idles nice n steady...once it's warmed up n oil temp is at 250 degrees it idles sooo much like crap! It bounces from 700rpm 600rpm 500rpm evens 400rpm! Also the car shakes a little n you can feel it in the steering wheel and seat...anyone have or had this issue before? It drives me nuts and at my last service visit they performed a scope? And said it's nomal! Thanks guys!

all N54s misfire slightly during a cold start. Just watch some youtube vids of a 335i/135i starting up, and you will hear little hiccups right at the start

When you start your car cold the DME is keeping the throttle plate open 2-3% to keep the car from idling like crap or stalling. Once it is warm oil flows easier and motor has less resistance so it stops keeping the plate slightly open. If your HPFP is any more than 3,000 miles on it(thats when mine started) you start to get a shiver followed by a bog and then a little rev once the dme tries to compensate. Unfortunatly it will only get worse until the pump fails or bmw finds a real fix. Good luck getting BMW to do anything about this. I have tried and failed.

My car has been doing it for months, dealer won't do anything about it since I have no codes.

This information helped with my rough idle with a warm engine. It runs completely smooth now: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=386376

Fix the problem before you add variables to the mix and further complicate things. If you've got a bad plug, injector, or fuel pump you might end up damaging it. Get it running smooth like it should, then mod.

If what you are describing is just a slight dip in rpm and then back up to 650-700 rpm and then be fine for a few minutes then repeat I would say its OK to tune. When my car does this I have to point it out to anyone in my car or they don't notice it. If it is obvious to others in your car you may have a bigger problem.

I have exactly the same problem on my 07/07 E93 MSD80 6MT with updated software to 34.x

two firs years no problem, steady idle.
on beginning 2010 dealer replaced 6 injectors + 6 coils + 6 plugs because of misfiring at partial throttle...

After that the idle is exactly as your car. the inspector from BMW belgium stated that this is normal for N54 lean burn engine.
I state that it was fine when car was new! they could not explain, but insist it is normal: no action has to be taken

Try resetting the adaptions as shown in the thread link I posted. Takes less than 5 minutes and fixed the rough idle for me.

Yes because I know...

Car runs great at WOT, even with the JB3 on. It just idles like butthole!
