b&m short shifter on E90 335
Hey guys,
Well i got this B&M short shifter for my E90 335i. http://www.bmracing.com/index.php?id...cat=15&pid=361 It's should have been a easy install but found a problem. The lower ball robed on the drive shaft damper. And this only when in 2nd, 4th or 6th. I had to shave the ball a bit to clear it. See pictures. First picture is the grinding it did while driving it. Then the 2 others are after i grinded it lower and on an angle, since it only rubed when the shifter was down. (2,4,6th) After this grinding it works great. |

Andy here (met you at the shop with my Gray/Red 335i). I'd be interested in the B&M unless you have one out or ready soon? Since the install seems like it may or may not be an issue, what would you guys charge to toss it in?

Sorry guys, I was going to try the B&M out and let you know how well I thought it installed and went in but looks like it's a "no go".

I emailed Brian Liaw at Rogue Engineering. He told me that they are currently working on a complete E92 335i system. i think i will wait for it.

E90 vs E92 (335i ssk)
Guys, it is possible that the fitment issue is between the 4 door (E90) and the 2 door (E92)? Maybe both B&M and RE will work correctly w/ the E90 335?
my 2 cents |

The 330 fitment is no problem. Plenty of people are using it w/o problems right now. The issue is the new 335.

does this ssk make the actual shift knob sit lower in the shift boot? pretty much the only thing about the intererior of my car is the height of the knob. my last car was a 330i zhp with the factory installed short shifter and i miss that aspect of the car.
will the b&m solve my problems? |

I actually called B&M, as well as UUC and rogue since monday ( work has been draging abit this week ). all 3 places said that they dont have an official application dedicated for the e92 335i coupe yet. all 3 also said that they plan to have one out by begining to mid june.
as for the B&M, while they said that they have one for the 330 and the e90m, the e92 coupe was a different fitment so it wont be an exact proper fit. just my 0.02c after a long boring week at work.

there is a difference. a short shifter knob, only reduces the hieght of the knob and not the actual shift distance.
the short shift kit (SSK), aka short shifter, reduces the actual throw distance when you shift. some of the SSK also will reduce the hieght of the shift knob. I dont know too much about the B&M, so i cant comment on it. I did how ever have a UUC in past audi's. they were great.
