Couple questions on JB3
Hey guys i will be purchasing a jb3 unit pretty soon. I have a couple of questions, i tried searching but found no results. Sorry if this has been posted before.
1. Will maps 3-5 throw codes, so that i would have to buy the BT Tool? 2. Do i need 93 oct to be running map 5 or is 91 ok? 3. Is it worth it, because some people are saying that it doesn't make a big difference in power during summer heat? Im pretty sure i have more questions, just cant think right now. But thanks! |

1. according to BMS, no
2. you need 93 octane for Map 5, it will run like crap on 91 octane. 3. yes its worth every penny. Now go get a tune.

The tuning takes in to account air intake temperature so as temperatures rise boost is reduced. But even in 100 degree weather you'll see nice gains over the stock tuning during 100 degree weather. Mike |

wait a second... Des Moines, Iowa? Today's weather forcast: low of 65, high of 86.
Regarding #3, what do you know about hot, lol? But seriously, I installed mine earlier this week and we (Houston, TX) have had nothing but hot weather. (actually hot. Oh what I wouldn't give to roll my windows down in 70 degree sunshine!) Regardless, it has been a HUGE improvement and well worth it. I do hope you're right... if it cools off here and my car runs even faster, then yay!

Night and day difference over stock. That is a fact. After taking it off to go to the dealer, the car feels like a smart car. That big of a difference.

Any reason why you had to remove the unit before the dealer visit? other than it voiding warranty. Im thinking about buying one also....but to remove it every trip to the dealer for an oil service? reason i ask cause i thought its undetectable?

1. If your on 91 pump gas and are on Map 3 you should not throw any codes. 2. You will need to have 93 oct gas to be going on map 5 3. It is definitely worth it and is going to be the best bang for the buck for power gains! Shoot me over a PM if you have any further questions. - Alan |

I ran map 5 and 3 and I had a misfire in a week, don't know if its related to the JB3 2. Do i need 93 oct to be running map 5 or is 91 ok? I used 91 octane, and had the above situation 3. Is it worth it, because some people are saying that it doesn't make a big difference in power during summer heat? DO IT! Just get a BT scan cable, its a lot less compared to your OEM warranty. Another alternative might be a JB+, not as punch, just as fun. |
