HKS SSQ blow off valve test

Hey guys,
Well on sunday i did a little test.
I took my HKS SSQ BOV off my 944 turbo to try in on my 335.

The install is just temporary for the test.
I only use the HKS valve on the front diverter valve, and keeped the rear diverter valve active.
All seem to work great.
I will need to make a customer adaptor to fit the factory fitting / clamps.
Here some pictures and video's.
My car is all stock except the valve and a boost gauge mounted temporally untill i get the time to do it right.

The stock exhaust sound nice....

It's cool, but I think it whistles too much. I like the "whoosh" sound more than the whistle, know what I mean?
I've heard a sequential "whoosh" before, any idea who makes it? or maybe there's a setting on your ssq that makes it whistle?

Ya the whistle is what makes the HKS valve diferent from the other models.
On my 944T it doesn't do it since i run 2 BOV, a Apexi as a primary and HKS as secondary.
Together they work great on my 944T to loose al surging i was having with my big turbo.

I don't know if adjusting the back srew will help.
Since it adjust the spring load, and i want it loose to open fast.

For now since its winter I will go back to stock.
But just wanted to share my test.

Yes it is, its just temp. installed there.
Not sure i want it there, or even if i will keep it.
since once you see how it boost.
It not crazy hot like a 32 psi supra where boost moves alot and you need that info badly.
not much to see here, just up and down a few psi and your done.
In stock form its not much use. but i was fun for the first week.
If i figure a nice clean place to install it I will keep it for sure.

Ya thats actually a nice place to put it without cutting anything out. And you cant really have a pillar going either since an airbag is there. So thats a nice clean place to put it.

Nice job. Which kinda boost gauge you use? Greddy?

sounds great but it will sound a lot better and give that woosh if you soften it a little bit, yes that can be done by softening the back srew (loosening it) try it and see if u like the difference...

Always been a fan of the HKS SS. You can get different inserts for it for different sounds.... I had one on my Supra. It was loud.

I think putting an aftermarket BOV in a BMW is unique and kinda stands out from the rest. I think this whole rice bullcrap is old news. It has 2 turbos and other people have their own Bimmers. If they wanna trick it out, who is anyone to say otherwise?

Oh and watching F&F in the theaters 6 years ago was the reason I saved up and have a 500hp Supra downstairs.

Thanks guys , clad many like it. And that some will now be able to see what it sound like on this car.

MonacoBimm,
Yes its my new E90 335 only got 900 mile on her.
and I already have a boost gauge, a B&M short shifter, and now the BOV.
Got to stop adding thing to her.

I am plesently suprised how good the factory exhaust sound.
It really can't hear it sing when your in the car. This video i did gave me a chance to hear it. And I may not change it to an aftermarket unless they have a nice deep sound like this but just a bit loader, Maybe 5-10% more, just enough to hear it in the car.

Walked U,
Its a Autometer sport-comp 2 with the new LED lighting. Its mounted in a carbon fiber pod sitting on the wiper selector arm. With the hose I installed it with it stays still and w/o any drilling. I really didn't want to make any holes.

I think the SSQV only sounds good under heavy boost (15-20), Supras make the best use of it's sound.

Car sounds great. I do agree with some of the posts above though about looseing the bolt to get whoosh sound instead of a whistle. I cant decide what BOV to go with once i get my 335. HKS sounds great, but i love how tial sounds too

The supra in the video fairtex posted sounds awesome

Didn't mean to offend you, I once had an EVO with an hks ssq bov too. I had to recirculate it again because the MAF would trip whenever It blew off in atmosphere. Like I mentioned earlier your ride sounds awesome and feel free to mod all you want it's your car . The HKS bov just has that distinctive sound that reminds me of the movie. And I wasn't implying on your ride being "rice". In fact hate that term!

You should get the Defi BF gauge...it is much sexier than the Autometer, lol..more accurate too and allows you to record, peak, and playback boost behavior. Not to mention it matches the light on the gauge cluster

It sounds OK, I too had a VTA BOV and got tired of it after a month or so.
