Called BMW About Spacers
So I called BMW about what would happen if I left the spacers in when I brought it in to get my wheels aligned, balanced, etc...
They basically told me I don't want to put spacers on because it will A. Put Too Much Pressure On The Hub B. Make My Car Not Handle Properly C. Mess Up The Suspension After all this was done....he said he had no idea what would happen if I brought it in and told me the best thing to do was get wider tires if I wanted to fill the wheel wells better. Is this all true or was he just saying that so I wouldn't do it?? Thanks In Advance... |

I've heard that argument as well, but I've also heard plenty of points stating they are perfectly safe as long as you have the proper spacers made for your car, they are from a reputable company, and they are seated correctly on the hub. In short, if you do it, do it right

+1 on wider tires. wider tires look better and fill the wheel well at the same time. id just mess around with offset and width to get the desired look. deep dish or deep concave FTW!

If you use CORRECT spacers (hubcentric for hub and wheel, and longer studs) it really is no different than running an after market wheel with a smaller offset. How do you think flush wheels GET FLUSH? They either run really deep lips, or push the face of the wheel outward by SPACING out the hub mating flange. As long as you don't buy universal Autozone spacers, you'll be just fine. If you use spacers 15mm or larger, make sure they are bolt-in spacers. You don't want lug bolts that are 15+mm longer than stock, the leverage weakens them (to an extent). |
