Brake Dust in the USA?
Right,
This is going to seem crazy or dumb and I'm not sure which... Just got back from the US / Canada and had three cars over there, a Jeep, a Chrysler 300C and a Mustang. I drove at least 1,000 miles in them cross-states, and with the exception of the Jeep, which broke down pretty soon after pick up, none of the cars got any brake dust on the wheels what so ever. As in nothing. Do they have different compounds over there? I noticed that german cars had the usual black brake dust, but few of the US cars did. And before you ask if it was all freeway, quite a bit of it was thrashing the Mustang through Yosemite; I got the brakes to fade so guess I used them enough . Any ideas? Would make my car cleaning a lot easier with pads that didn't create black dust! |

LOL Dr Dave.
Actually the brakes went on the Jeep in Yosemite which was kinda scary - I judged ramming it up the verge to stop it wouldn't damage it too much being a 4x4... As for the Mustang - I did use the brakes going into the bends to take off the speed to I could sling shot it out the other side - engine braking wouldn't slow me down enough. A strangely decent motor for a laugh if you like big engines and cart horse suspension - mucho fun on hols but not one to live with LOL And a 300C Sofa Delux? Cruised and no need for brakes! |
