Angel iBright V3.0 issues
Well, I would ideally like to send this as a PM to Tom at EAS, but since I'm too new it hasn't been enabled yet... and this also might serve informative for others.
But I just picked up a set of the Angel iBright 3.0 from EAS today and went through the process of installing them- following the DIY posted on here to a "T" (which is awesome BTW, thanks EAS). Apparently there's also something new with the design of the hardware> looks more simple compared to the stuff in the DIY. After installing both sides, I pushed the unlock button, and only the passenger side lights came on. After a few minutes of checking and re-checking, unplugging and whatnot, nothing happened. Started the car > nothing + error message on the dash. So I unplugged the driver packs from both and swapped with no change. Then completely pulled out the driver side lighting> reinstalled > no change. Then just kinda triple checked all connections and not noticing any abnormalities> pushed unlock > nothing. Was about to just leave it in over night and deal with it tomorrow, started the car, and they both came to life. Since then, I've turned the car on and off and they both work. Pushed unlock with the car off and they both came on. So now that they work I'm super stoked, they look amazing. Just wondering if there's something to keep an eye out for? Reasons for concern? A familiar issue? |

Thanks for the post. I'm interested in these. Do they turn on/off full power like any other HID, or do they fade in and out? If they turn on/off full power, does everything else (like read light fade) still work as it did?

yea, i feel like it might have been some connection issue too. I just think its strange that they came to life only after starting the car, and have worked perfectly since. I'm thinking about going in today and just putting some electric tape over everything so it stays as is
![]() They don't fade in/out and don't flicker at all. I have to say, they're pretty sick how they just come on at full power and turn off the same way. I was thinking about going the cheap route for headlights, but I'm glad that I shelled out the extra money for these. I think some of the photoshopped shots of cars with angel eyes set some ridiculous expectations for how bright these would be, but I think they're perfect. Very crisp, OEM looking, not too blue (just a hint of blue to them) but WAY brighter. Last edited by onnex; 07-09-2010 at 09:12 PM.. |

Gotta bring this one back up because it's causing too much grief. I really am curious if anyone else has had any problems with the angel ibright V3s. After having the same driver side keep going out on a consistent basis, i managed to drive out during work to EAS to have them look at it. (only because my boss owns a BMW and was sympathetic to my cause).
Of course when I'm there they work perfectly after having them go out about 5 minutes into my 35 minute drive there– so I'm not sure they believed me at first. (My shitty tape job on and around the driver pack probably didn't help my credibility either) They said they couldn't find anything wrong, but "re-wired" them because the connection looked "strange". I still don't know what that means, but since they know a whole hell of a lot more about BMWs than me, I naturally assumed that this problem was behind me. 5 minutes after leaving, the all too familiar error code came up on the dash and the lights were out. I've thought all along that its faulty ibright hardware/wiring, but I'm open to any and all suggestions on how to fix this if at all possible. Call it laziness and/or frustration, but I really don't want to uninstall the lights, ship them back, and drive around with 2 different colored headlights for a week. **This is not a knock on EAS at all. Those guys are really awesome and do great work... I'm pretty sure I would still be having the same problem is I had anyone else look at it.** And say NO to one-eyed pirates: ![]() |

Well, I'm about 90% sure I've isolated the problem to the wiring coming into the driver pack. Still doesn't do me any good.. i've taped the connection and nothing has changed.
But to be honest, I payed the extra money for these not only because they look good, but also so i wouldn't have any sort of headache like this. At this point, I would just have to say buyer beware. Definitely has been the biggest let-down of a purchase so far... and I still have a long way to any possible resolution. ![]() Until I get new hardware in about a weeks time (at best), I wont conclusively be able to say whether they're all shady or I just got a fluke POS. |

Just wanted to add that I also purchased angel I brights but they went out after just one month.... I looked at the little driver packs and they were all warped and deformed from heat...
At about that time, EAS sent out recalls for the packs, saying they were defective and were not resistant to heat, and that they would replace them for newer designed packs free of charge. Needless to say that the "NEW" packs only worked for another one month, and were again deformed. I wrote back to them about the problem, but now to have these replaced, they require all kinds of shit.... original purchase invoice, complete lights packed and shipped and insured to their offices, ... WTF!! I will prob. not do that and just leave it at that, In short, EAS Angel i Bright is a POS and forum members should be warned appropriately!

There's no such thing as a product with a 0% failure rate. Sometimes shit breaks. The returns process is a normal part of doing business. Whats promising is that EAS is willing to replace these defective units.

If you are still having issues - please make an appointment for inspection so I can simply have the entire kit replaced - adding to peace of mind.

i am having the exact same problem with my HID AE that I got from Alpine..I would drive around without my drivers side and come home and it would work the next morning when i start the car up.spoke with alex and he said it was an issue with the ground connection possibly being loose or dirty. i checked them and seems fine to me.i am going to recheck my connection once more before i bring it up to them.I will keep you posted.

I have Angel bright system installed as well as the lci tail lamp conversion from EAS. My angel brights fade like the previous halogen bulbs did. I cannot tell you how happy I am with EAS and Tom who helped me out tremendously with my LCI tail lamps. I love them.

What does this mean, they fade. LEDs don't fade. Can you clarify?

The AIB's fade out when you lock the car. Rather than just turning on instantly, or off instantly, they fade on and off, exactly like the OEM halogen bulbs do. I have tried capturing this in video, but the frame rate is too slow to capture this properly and just makes it look like they are flickering on and off-which is not the case |
