Air con - stroke of good luck
Wasn't sure the Air Con was performing as good as it should................... so on Sat 26th June whilst i was on the way to the Northern Meet i phoned BM to get my car booked in to check it out
It was 3 years old on Sunday 27th............ so i thought i'd have a "moan" before the warranty ran out Nearest waiting appointment was yesterday - so in a go and he said just sign this and indicate method of payment - its FREE i say, under warranty - no its not your warranty ran out on the 27th and as you now have the aftermarket BM warranty you'll have to claim on that(with £250 excess) - no, i say, i called on the 26th within the warranty period - no, they say, has to be in the workshop within the warranty period - bollocks i say, whats BM's phone number, i'll phone them - oh, i'll just have a word with our warranty guy............ I also saw a couple of flecks of white dust on the area around the gear lever - and had told them about that too................... He comes back and says - "while you're here" we'll have a quick look for you and see whats up............ An hour later and he says your air con is within spec - temp wise etc - BUT it needs a new evaporator for the air con.............. 2 to 3 days of a job as the whole dash needs to come out.......... Yikes! but don't worry it'll all be covered by the BMW manufacturer warranty SO................ Before your warranty is out MAKE SURE you get the Evaporator checked as a 2 to 3 day job if you have no post 3year warranty will be eye-watering....................... Max

I'm glad you got this sorted.
I have to say that this is where BMW are damaging their own brand. 2-3 days labour to replace a simple part like the evaporator is an outrage. This is simply a case of BMW charging the customer for failing to design a car that can be easily maintained. The big issue is dealer labour rates though. They are an utter disgrace. |
