Who's got carbon buildup?
So who's got carbon buildup? I was picking up my M3 and saw 2 335is getting serviced for carbon buildup. The mileage ranged from 30k to just over 50k miles (out of warranty) ?

I think I'll start prophylactic annual treatment Seafoam once per year. That along with BSH Oil Catch Can *should* hopefully prevent carbon buildup.
EDIT: I meant to say OCC. I have not idea why I typed intercooler...

We need a seafoam DIY with pics and/or even video so some of us first timers can see what to expect. Anyone up for it?

Whats a good sea foam to go with? I don't think all these cars are the same as far as carbon build up. I did an intercooler install the other day and one thing I noticed is much less oil in my intake and IC tubes than I have seen in some other pics I have seen online. I know it can be a problem but I don't think it will effect every one. I use Mobile 1 0w40to help with oil over heating too so that may help but I am not sure. I am waiting on an Ar OCC just to be safe.

A occ is necessiary. I also run a 0w-40
By what seafoam I am taking that as how do you use it not which brand (as seafoam is a brand) so put it in the vaccum line that runs off the DV.

I think it's just a gimmick to drum up business. When I had my e46 BMW suggested a carbon build up treatment even though I only ran shell 93 octane and seafoamed my car and redlined it pretty much every day.

Has anyone ran BG44k instead? Add it into a low tank of fuel and fill it up. Prefer to run it on a longer trip and cleans the fuel system out. Its what Im going to do on mine and I have done on all my previous cars. The stuff works wonders. I even asked the dealer and thats what they recommended even.

I just put an order in for BSH Oil Catch Can. I've been eyeballing it for a loong time and I know their quality is top notch from the VW/AUDI world.
RedLine Motorworks is running a summer special on BSH OCCs: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=405434
