replacing front brakes at local shop on e90 330xi ???

Hi, I have 2006 330xi and my car shows that service for brakes is overdue with minimal tread left on the front pads. I called a mechanic in the shop, not BMW dealer!!! and he told me that for replacing front rotors, pads and front sensor would be $420. He also told me that those brakes are not the same that dealers sales cause dealers' rotors and pads are alot more expensive. He told that installing those ones that he got would not cause any problems and would be same as original from BMW dealer. So, is that true, and is it good price for them? if you guys have some websites that have some rotors and pads and maybe sensors for my car please let me know. Other question, I saw some slotted rotors and ceramic pads for my car online for decent price, what you do you guys think about those "performance looking" oem rotors and pads???

I'm in the same situation as you except I've got another 8K more miles to go on the computer. $420 sounds fair for an independent mechanic but you'll probably get the cheap aftermarket parts. I definitely will be doing the front brake job on my own but I'm trying to decide between oem parts or cheap aftermarket parts. My concern about aftermarket parts is the fitment. Let us know what you decide to do.

If you're looking for Performance pads, I can certainly get you the Cool Carbon pads for your car. If you want better stopping power, and on top of that, 1/3 the brake dust of the stock pad, then you'll certainly find great success with the Cool Carbon pads.

Just PM me if you have any questions.
