Springs on Stock Shocks

How long did you stock shocks last for those running aftermarket springs?

there are so many factors that determine the timeframe that the shocks can last...how hard you drive the car, how much smaller the new springs are etc. ive heard people getting around 40k though and then starting to feel the suspension a bit loose. (not physically but meaning the car is not as planted)

go ahead and get new shocks.thats what I did. I am about to put on koni yellows and eibach pros.

youll have to replace the shocks down the road anyways. might as well save on installation fees and just do it once.

how many miles on your current oem shocks?

Well the car is fairly new 2010 135i with only about 4500 miles on it. Car is being leased, so i really want them to last me the entire 36 month lease period.

Which aftermarket springs were you considering?

With the H&R Sport Springs, our customers report that their stock shocks are fine even with 30k to 40k miles of use on them.

mine felt bouncy the first day I put mine in, and I had sport shocks in the car.

Adding Koni Yellows to your lowering springs improves the ride immensely.

It'll be wise for you to pair up an aftermarket spring with an aftermarket shocks and it's always recommended as your stock shocks are not meant to handle the spring rate of any after market shock and will cause them to fail pre-maturely in most cases. The most popular choice by far is the KONI Yellow Adjustable Front and Rear Shocks/Struts. KONIs are adjustable, which means that you can influence the behavior of the car to meet your preferences (ride comfort, handling balance, etc.). It also means that wear can be compensated. (However, you will probably never need it.) They are designed for a specific car or even special driving conditions. I'll shoot you over a PM with more details

Absolutely agree, get your suspension right the first time around.
