Problem with V4 car solved

A fellow’s E92 AT has begun to limp frequently after upgrade to V4 Autotune. When I tested the car yesterday it runned very strong during a couple of seconds at each WOT but then always limped. A check showed that the boost pressure was too high, sometimes up to about 20 PSI and the actual boost did not respond to settings in the Procede User Software. Problem solved by reloading the firmware and maps, so something did get wrong at the previous upgrade. The battery in the car is not in a very good condition and it has also been connectivity problems with the guys PC, which explains the Procede was corrupted.

The car is provided with DCI, Big Tom intake heat shield, aftermarket FMIC and use stock DP’s. I’m quite impressed how strong it now pulls. Meth is not used and the max boost is set to 14 PSI on map 1 and 16 PSI on map 2. The setting of map 2 is a bit high for stock DP’s, but the car runs flawlessly on 94 octane RM2 with this setting and the DP’s will be replaced with catless 2,5”.

Whenever my car starts acting weird regarding boost.....I reload the firmware making sure the laptop is connected to an electrical outlet.

Always seems to solve the problem with boost fluctuations.

Sometimes I notice my usb port will drop signals momentarily when I am datalogging, so I am sure it can happen during a firmware download.

And I do have the laptop power settings at high perfomance.

The simplest things. And yet its heavily mentioned that this is an issue. You'd think that if there was corruption that it wouldn't function at all... Maybe the procede should add a CRC check to the firmware... Seriously.

Yep... We will have a checksum function coming soon. In the meantime, just update firmware with the laptop plugged into an ac socket.

Good, it will be an important safety feature for the Procede, especially for those guys that are not using a boost gauge and can not see a problem by themselves.

One of the boost logs from this guys car shows 22 PSI, which is extremely dangerous for a car that is not supported by meth. He got away with it this time but it could as well have ended up in another Enrico' case since he has been using the car like this for some time.

It's unlikely that he was running 22psi with the throttle open. What you probably saw was a partially open throttle and boost build up in the ic pipe/tmap sensor. Corrupt firmware update or not, there are still overboost protection in place that will trigger valet if boost exceeds the limit for more than 0.5 seconds.

Correct, the 22 PSI figure was from one of his own runs and I could see that it was not during WOT. But the car definitely runned with about 17 PSI for several seconds until it limped, while the max boost was set to a much lower value.

The overboost trigger for valet is 1psi above the max boost value for a period longer than the user adjustable delay value. Unless either value is increases by the user, a prolonged overboost situation isn't possible.

Coming soon? Sounds like it should have been there from the get go. No disrespect, but if you're going to let people update their own firmware there should have been a checksum verification in there all along.
