These New fuel pumps are great :) *Update*
Title sounds to good to be true? Well thats because it is
I got my 2nd hpfp replaced about 250 miles ago, after a couple of limps modes cruising around on the highway. Well today i went into limp mode 3 times, twice on the Highway and once WOT.. Well at least my dealer gives nice loaner cars btw im at 45k miles

Nice to see youve got a sense of humour about it OP but these problems have been well documented with this car for 4 years, BMW should be ashamed of themselves for not coming up with a solution in that time for their customers.

The n55's are having this same problem right? And if so, the new x5 has n55's in them, correct? (I know its a 300hp turbo 6 ). So you would HOPE that they are finding the problem since nwo there are that many more cars on the road with that same pump/engine/software combo.

I'd say its a good thing that the newer generation of vehicles are using the same pump.. it means they won't be able to completely ignore the issue (I know they basically have anyway) but with so many vehicles using it at least they'll likely continue to develop replacements and not just wait for warranties to expire.

*******UPDATE**********
Well i just got a call from my SA and she said it wasnt related to the fuel pump lol.. She said the car was throwing boost codes, so the went and replaced the solenoids. She then tells me that they have to do a extended test drive on the car which would put 100 miles on the car :/, well lets just hope the guy doesn't crash or damage the car by accident. Btw what in the world is a solenoid lol

Wow I really wish i would have kept my M3. This morning car went into limp mode started sputtering was lucky enough to nurse the car home. This will be the 3rd HPFP in my car it only has 18K miles on it. I just had the 2nd pump replaced at 14000 miles. I bought the car when it had 8900 miles and this will be my second pump since I've had it. This car is becoming such an inconvenience it sucks to have to think that I can not depend on it. I have the new updated DME software and the NEW pump that was supposed to be issue free. LOL BMW you've got to be kidding me.

good luck on that 100 miles... the tech took my car out for 30 miles test drive... came back with plenty of rock chips, numerous of them, on my front bumper... lucky my car is silver and you can't really tell unless you look up close....

Don't leave them with 100 miles worth of fuel. They will have to pay for the fuel.

everytime your car goes in for service does your advisor note the fuel level... he should... on extended test drives just remind your advisor to make sure the tech brings it back to the level you left it with.. there should be no argument about that .. plus the tech has to take the repair order with him when he drives the car.. so he'll be able to see how much to put back.....
