Engine oil help

The warning indicator came on tonight, said I needed to add +1L of oil

I checked the manual and it says BMW Long-life rating LL-01 or similar oils. I couldn't find anything like that at Shell. This thread here says 0W-40 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=391467

I did another search and found a e92 coupe manual PDF that says 5W-40 synethtic is OK.

So... pretty confused at the moment, which is the oil I need?!

I actually already filled 1L of the following: http://www.shell.com.hk/home/content...e/helix_ultra/ but if this is the wrong one, I would like to know so I can get a real oil change tomorrow!

Just take it back to BMW... and they'll fill it back up for you and just charge for the engine oil... Took me less than 15 mins.

Mobil 1 0W-40 Ultimate All-Round Performance Synthetic is the only engine oil BMW HK recommends. It is available at most Exxon gas stations at HKD19x a litre.

As a matter of fact, just replaced the engine oil of my E91 a week ago. Although it was only a little bit less than 7,000 km since the previous change (which came free from BMW HK at the end of the 1-year manufacturer's warranty), the color of the drained oil appeared rather dark. Don't know how bad it will look if I follow the on-board computer to go another 8,000 km. I think the engine oil's early deterioration was a result of our short daily trips between the Mid-Levels and Wanchai.

Seems such a difference from Japanese vehicles, I drove my Accord Coupe forever before requiring an oil change, seems the BMW engines eat through this oil like candy...
