Help with Pricing
I see lots of threads discussing CPO cars, but I'm not finding any deals on CPO cars so I'm thinking of going non-CPO. I'm looking at a couple 07-08
335i sedans with Premium and Sport package with Navigation. They are off lease in the low 30's mileage. What would be a fair price? This will be my first Beemer!! |

Check neighboring states, fly and look at the car, seal the deal if all looks good, including the price! Drive back on another trip, while the car is detailed and ready for delivery. I'd never buy a non-CPO used bimmer, and 335i is a more extreme case with all reliability issues. Patience is the key with finding the right CPO. Quote:

Thanks guys for the responses!! I was under the impression that I could add the warranty later on, as long as I buy one that is still under factory warranty? Also I keep reading that the 335 is expensive to maintain, yet the only problem I keep reading about is the HPFP which is already covered under a longer warranty...what else is expensive? Is the 328 worth a look instead??

As long as the car is under factory warranty (4yr/50k), you can add the extended warranty for up to 7 years of coverage. As far as 335 costs, the parts that you would probably be most concerned include the injectors and turbos. I would suggest test driving the 328i and 335i to see which model would actually suit your daily needs and wants, as the 328i models with CPO can be found for low to mid $20's. You might want to expand your search to neighboring states to find the right options etc.

I looked for a 335i for over 6 months and just purchased a 6 speed 2008 335i Coupe, fully loaded (Nav, Premium, Sport, Cold Weather) with 18,000 miles for $29,800. It had a clean car fax, perfect condition and I think I got a steal. Most of the 08's I looked at had higher miles and were going for mid 30's. It is still under original factory warranty until the end of 2011, and I plan on CPO'ing it when the warranty is closer to expiring. Hope this helps.
