Roadworthyness test

I'm getting a red service indicator at startup. When I thumb through the service options I get a picture of a car on a lift in red.

The manual says this is a roadworthyness test. When I called the dealer they refused to give me any information and just said I had to bring it in.

I change my oil every 5k and just flushed my brake fluid. All other indicators are a ways off-oil,4k; brakes, 20k; coolant, one year etc. My car has 30k miles.

Does anyone know anything about this. I don't want to go to the dealer for mod reasons and I don't really trust them. I don't want to neglect a serious issue though.

I have no problem codes that I can find withthe bt tool either.

Thanks in advance.

That's interesting. Perhaps CBS alert (Condition Based Service) kicked in 20 miles ago...

i think its just an inspection where they check belts and hoses and stuff, do oil change if needed etc. nothing specific todo unless they find a problem.

It just means you are 20 miles past due for an inspection. It also could mean they forgot to reset service interval last time if nothing else is due.

I had one done a few months ago along with an oil/filter change at the dealer. They inspect the underside of the car, i.e. exhaust, wheel bearings and suspension etc. Didn't take very long either, the mech who did the service on my car invited me to watch the inspection as he performed it, which I did. I don't think it took him much more than 15-20 minutes.

That indicator does come on every 2 years for brake fluid change. When you had the fluid changed did you, or whoever did it reset the condition based service system? You can do it with a BT tool.

Just go into the check control menu and it should tell you why it's getting all excited

when services are upcoming the car icon color will be yellow ---
when the service is overdue the car icon color will be red..

since i cant see the pic you posted, or the elapsed mileage, trying to figure out which service you are due for is hard .. to say the least ,,

follow the best tip given -- go to your CC Menu via the KOMBI display or your Nav,, (if you have it)

plus you can always decline service at the dealer, but you will be required under the terms of the warranty to perform all schedule maint tasks -- per manufacturer requirements.. keep your parts receipts, and document the tasks performed, along with date and time.. just in case you need to produce these records (on request) for warranty repairs..

That is rake pads there.

when the red service light comes on with the red brake light it is because the brake pad wear sensors are touching the rotor.
