Tunes for Arizona Desert? Heat Tested and Why?

Have any 335i tunes been tested in the desert (91 oct only)?
If not, need whywhy?

Ex. not needed because tune X has the following feature..... in place to prevent damage/failure from extreme heat.

In the comparison chart on this site the JB3 looks to be missing many safety features, but seems most popular.

The procede will automatically tune itself down to 10psi and 3-5deg of ignition retard if conditions are bad enough. And I've personally tested it in Bakersfield CA in June in 110f afternoon. On 91oct fuel.

Many many JB3s running around AZ, Bakersfield, and other extreme temperature locations. Boost is indexed to drop as inlet temps increase and timing targets are reduced 3-4 degrees by the ECU as well.

Mike,
At what IAT (degF) is the DME mapped to drop advance targets by 3-4 degrees?

I would still love to hear about this IAT-induced reduction in DME timing target that Mike mentioned.

At around 160 degrees. Interesting to hear you're surprised the ECU sets its advance ceiling on many parameters including air intake temperature.

I should also add BMS has a few JB3s running around Bahrain where they have 120+ degree temps and often use 89 RM2 octane. Map 3 lowers boost down to close to stock levels under those extreme conditions.

I am very unbiased and think both are great tunes-I dont know either tuner but just reading all Shivs stuff and the way he is a ass on the forums would cause me to not get his tune. Its funny that when we are at meets and the tuner war gets brought up everyone even with Vishnu says he is a dick on the forums. Def need to tone down all your sarcasm and omniscient attitude. Like I said unbiased fan of 335s.

The information you provided in untrue. And the reason I knew this was because we mapped out the ignition advance targets as a function of IAT since that is critical to Procede autotuning logic.

I don't mean to keep picking on Mike because I know the misinformation he is spreading comes from Terry. But that doesn't make it right.

At the risk of sounding like a "jerk", I can provide actual test results showing the effects that IAT changes have on DME timing target and boost target.

You "mapped it out"?

As I understand it, without looking at the actual complex factory tuning mapping it's next to impossible to parse out the the factory timing logic. It pulls variables from all over the place. I'll discuss it more when we start talking about the new board in detail.

We have mapped the output with respect to IAT. Quite easy to do since our tune can log DME ignition advance. All you need to do is create a knock free environment to rule out reactive knock retard. And then just adjust IAT. And you are wrong with your 3-4deg claim.

And stop trying to confuse the issue by posting screenshot of DIMsport software that Terry sent you. He/you made a claim. The claim is untrue. I have proof. Shall I post it?

Is that really your place? If people on this forum attacked vendors the way you attack vendors half this board would be banned.

Oh and back to the OP's topic, I run JB3 2.0 on map 3/5 (91 octane) and have never thrown a code. The autotuning really intrigues me though with the heat down here, but there are no problems with the JB3 in regards to the heat.

So I can spread misinformation at whim and not expect those who know better (tuners) from correcting me? And please show me where I'm "attacking" Mike. Is there any way I can correct him without you accusing me of attacking him?

Shiv
