Did previous owner do golf tee mod??

so i got an e93 335i 2007 used from the dealership recently, 6spd manual. I'm getting a bit of a funny, yet pretty sporty sounding sound coming from my exhaust ... don't know if there's a problem, or if the previous owner did the golf tee mod? or if stock is supposed to sound like that...

Basically, when I put it into first and step on it a little, then quickly let off on the gas, I will get a quick low deep sputtering almost farting sound come from the exhaust...the sputtering lasts only a quick second as the rpms go down quickly from me letting go of the gas pedal quickly... happens when i'm in second as well... and when i'm driving at slow speeds (i.e. in gear, then quickly let go of gas).

I had the hpfp replaced (unrelated issue), and noticed this sound was still there after replacement... so i asked the service people, and they told me nothing was wrong, the 335i just has a throatier sound and does that sputtering noise from having a dual exhaust, etc...

So, I'm wondering if it's really just stock? Or, does the golf-tee mod magnify this sputtering deep throaty sound as you let off on the gas quickly? How do i check if the previous owner did in fact do the golf tee mod? The car is quite deep and throaty, I'm not really complaining about the sound, I actually kind of like it... but would be nice to know if it's modded or if there really is something wrong with the car/exhaust? Thanks in advance!

If at idle the left exhaust pipe is blowing out fumes you have the golf tee mod. If at idle the flap is closed inside the exhaust and its not blowing out anything you don't have golf tee. Use the search bar next time

Mine is the same way in like first gear-very burbly and throaty when I let off. Almost the same quality of deepness as my Rogue Engineering exhaust on my 325is. Apparently one of the software updates will induce that in the car. I don't know which version, but I know after I got my software updated, it started doing that.
